Cirde K Helps Students Find Jobs The Circle K Club, which has been playing an expanded role at the Hazleton Campus, recently formed a committee to extend its service program still further. The committee, formally titled the Jobs for Students Committee, has, with the co-operation of the Hazleton Kiwanis organization, organized a jobs drive. A special committee has been formed at the local Kiwanis chapter to assist students in obtaining summer jobs. Mr. Harry Costas is chair man of the Kiwanis committee. Prospective employers call the local Campus and state their job needs. All pertinent information is then posted on a special section of the S.U.B. bulletin board. Stu dents take the initiative from that point on. If any question exists concern ing this program, please contact Carmen Lombardo, Dick Jameson, or Gary Hagenbach. The election was held at a state conference of student leaders from the 15 commonwealth cam puses the weekend of May 15-16 at University Park. Richard is completing his sophomore year at Highacres and will transfer to the University Park Campus in September. A marketing major, he is president of the Parnassus Chapter of the Keystone Honor Society, president of the Student Government As sociation at the Hazleton Campus, president of the Belles-Lettres Society, and chairman of the Stu dent Union Board. This year’s Convocation will be held in conjunction with the Thirtieth Anniversary of the Hazleton Campus of The Penn sylvania State University. Several persons from the first graduating class have been invited to attend the ceremonies. Highacres Featured In Radio Program SUB In conjunction with the cel ebration of the Thirtieth Anniver sary of the Hazleton Campus of The Pennsylvania State Univer sity, a half-hour radio program was presented on “The Bob Bersch Show” on Wednesday, June 3, at 7:00 p. m. The program, which dealt with various aspects of the Hazleton Campus, was to inform the Greater Hazleton Community of the Thirtieth An niversary and the role which the Hazleton Campus plays in relation to the University and to the Com munity. Speakers for the program were Frank Kostos, Director of the Hazleton Campus; Mr. John Lon go, Chairman of the Faculty for 1963-64; Mrs. Mary Ferry, Li brarian; and Richard Grovich, president of the Student Govern ment Association. Open House Next Fall On Sunday, November 8, 1964, from 2 to 4:30 p. m., the Hazleton Campus of The Pennsylvania State University, for the first time in its history, will hold Open House for parents. Head Chairman for this event is Mr. George Caliva, who is being assisted by Mrs. Mary Ferry, Mr. Ralph Crawford, and Mr. Richard Paul. Open House will consist of a general tour of the Campus given by a number of student guides. Projects on exhibit will include the following: Science chem istry, electrical engineering, me chanical engineering, physics, and biological science; Liberal Arts — languages, speech and literature, mathematics, psychology, busi ness, and physical education. In addition to the preceding exhibits, one may also view a space missile located in the parking lot and nu merous art exhibits in the lounge and on the Campus grounds. After the tour, refreshments will be served in the Main Building. The Student Government Association and the Student Union Board are working with the Faculty in developing displays and will contact other students to help make Open House a success.
