The new.man sitting at'Mr. Peightal’s
desk this year, is our assistant
administrative head, Mr. Ralph Noble*
Mr* Noble arrived here in June, 1954
as a teacher going between Pottsville
and Hazleton.
Mr. Noble, hailing from Mifflintown,
Pa., has been teaching for a little
less than 5 years. In 1943, he
graduated from high school and joined
the Air Force. After his discharge
in ’46, he went to Bucknell Univer
sity and completed a four-year course
in three years, by taking summer
courses. In *49, he received* his
B.S. degree in Commerce and Finance
and went to work in the insurance
business as a management trainee*
Later, he decided to go;to Temple
and West Chester for .courses'in
Social Service. * After graduating
from these places,.-Mr. Noble took
up the task of teaching in public
schools. At . the end of. a year-and
a half in'the grades, and three
years in high schools, he, accepted
a position at Penn State on the
main campus. That was in January,
1954, and he was assigned to teach
ing in Pottsville and Hazleton.' He
settled down on July lj 1955 when
he received' the* jwb of' Assistant
Administrative Heat here at High
acres.
Mir. Noble now resides in Conyngham
with his wife and two children,
Stephen, 5, and Nancy, 3 . „ He' can
be found on the golf links when
ever he can find time .an' 1 is active
in church functions.
Mr. Noble says the reason he likes
Hazleton Center is because of the
closeness of'the instructor and
student. He said-that he found
that this can be so because the
students are easy to work with , :
and very co-operative. Mr. ...Noble
would like to have the students come
to him whenever they feel he can
help them in any way.

During; this time, the' views of, '
Council members and students were
heard. Mr. Peightal, as last year’s
Director of. Athletics, also-dis
cussed the basketball-question. He
carefully analyzed the exact situ
ation being careful to exclude pre
judiced remarks from his report.
When the twenty-five minutes were up,
J ohn Marsicano moved to table in- '
definitely discussion of this motion'
because the sport’s preference poll
had not been concluded. This motion
was unanimously approved.
Having already approved an emergency
Collegian request for money to buy
paper, Student Council’began to
approve tho reports of its committies.
Chairman of the Social Committee,
Theresa Bobowski, asked for and'
received approval to hold the first
dance on Friday October 28th. Before
anything further could be done on
this dance, a finance committee had
to be appointed to prepare the
budget. President Kowalski, selected
Treasurer Raymond Bittner as chair
m®n and he selected John.Marsicano
and Theresa Bobowski as members.
Since the meeting was rapidly drawing
to a close, a'special'meeting-was
called by President for Friday evening
at >7:00 P.M* Upon a motion by Mr.
Bittner Student Cornell recessed
until Friday evening.
FOOTBALL GAME, (con»t.)
A.special committee was established
by the Student Council to plan for
this trip. On this committee are
John Marsicano (chairman,), William
Smith, Mary Tihansky,- John Kresge,
and Francis Humenick.
