October 10, 1955 Sophomores Larry Kowalski, President of the Sophomore class and Student Council, graduated in the top ten of the Hazleton High School class of 1954. He is attending Highacres as the recipient of a State scholarship. Larry is a liberal arts student who is active on the Collegian staff, College Arts Society and the College- Community Chorus. Last semester he was accepted as a member of Parnassus. Eugene Sturm, Vice President of the Sophomore class, is a graduate of Hazleton High School, Class of 1954. He is a ROTC flight commander and a member of the drill team. Gene is a third semester mechanical engineer ing student. Steve Tomko, secretary-treasurer of the Sophomore Class, is a resident of Weston. Steve is a third semester business student. He is a fli.ght sargeant in the ROTC and a member of the drill team. Steve has been appointed by council as a member of the Traffic Committee for the coming year* Theresa Bobowski, a Student Council member, has been elected to the social committee and the Student Faculty Board. Theresa was captain of the cheerleader squad at McAdoo High school, where she graduated in 1954® Theresa is enrolled in medi cal technology and plans to complete her trai rd ng at the Hazleton State Hospital. William Smith, Student Council member, is a resident of Drums and. a 7954 graduate of Hazleton High Sent olr He is an electrical tech student. Billy is an active member of uhe College-Community Chorus, the Cc7.legian and the College Arts Society. He will serve as chairman of the Traffic Committee for this year. John "Bamber" Marsicano, Student Council member,, is an electrical tech student* He was president of the senior class of 7.954 at Hazleton High School.* John has beer, appointed as chairman of the House Rules Committee and as a member of the newly-formed Sports Committee. Ray Bittner, Student Council member, graduated from Hazleton High School in 19540 He is enrolled as a business administration student, who intends to major in insurance. Freshman Bob Stish, President of the Fresh man class and Vice-President of Student Council, is a 1953 graduate of Hazleton High School. Although Bob is enrolled in liberal arts, he intends to major in elementary education. Karl Rekas, Vice-President of the Freshman Class, is a veteran of the United States Army, and the only veteran to hold office this semester. Karl hails from Nanticoke, gradu ated there in 1950 and played on the football team. At present, he is enrolled in pre med, but his future plans are centered in the field of biochemistry. Patti Sacco, Secretary-Treasurer of the Freshman class, is a 1955 grad uate of Hazleton High School. She is enrolled in business administrat ion, and she intends to major in secretarial science.
