A meeting of the Pennsylvania Junior - ;
College Basketball Conference will
be held at the State Capital in
Harrisburg on October 22nd. Plans
for the up-coming year will be
inaugurated at this, the first
formal meeting of the year. Mr,
Peightal, director of Athletics
here at Highacres, serves as a
member of the executive board of
the organization.
Student Council's decision - when
it is made - to continue or to
discontinue basketball will have
a great effect on this meeting.
StatS 1-1 on Season
Penn State, after white-washing
Boston University on September 24th
35-0, fell victim to a powerful
Army team, led by All-American
Don Holleder, by a 35-6 score.
Lenny Moore, State's great back,
has been stymied the past two weeks
and is more than overdue to braak
out and show his last-season's
form against Virginia this Saturday.
If he does, State should ruin the
experts and forecasters predictions.
State is regarded as a one-point
favorite.
Dr. Bobby Brown, brilliant third
baseman of the New York Yankees, got
his medical degree and served his
internship while still a member of
the team. He was asked by umpire
Red Jones what branch of medicine he
intended to specialize in. Always
a ballplayer at heart, Dr. Bobby
immediately replied} "Vivisection

State Soccer Team Hot
On Friday. September 30th., in a
game played in. a continuous rain,
the Penn State Soccer team swept
to its llth. straight victory and
its first of the 3955 season-
The Lions, led by Dick Packer, who
scored two goals defeated a strong
West Point team, 3-1.
State’s winning streak extends
back to 1953, and to add a little
flavor to -its latest triumph,
State; defeated a team which had
not lost a gams on its home

Grades of --1 or -2 were failing.
Subjects failed must be repeated
if required for graduation.
The revised system, aside from the
fact that it uses letters in place
of numbers, is somewhat similar:
90 - 100 A
80 - 89 B
70-79 C
60 - 69 D
0-59 F (FAILURE)
Students should remember that no
credit is given for potential
ability; credit is given for work
actually done.. Failure to carry
out regular assignments results
in failure for the course; the
student's grade is solely in the
hands of the instructor.
