Page Four Cubs Have Chance To Even Score By Mike McGinley Sports Editor Behrend’s tennis team has a chance to even their slate at 4-4, this week. The squad’s record prior to yesterday’s match was 2- 4. Yesterday the Cubs traveled to Beaver where they played Beaver Community College. The Cubs will play host to Lorain Community College, this Saturday, at 1:00 p.m., in their last home match of the season. Next Tuesday, Behrend will venture to Ashtabula, Ohio to play Ashtabula - KSU. The Cubs posted a 1-1 record last week winning over Cuyahoga-Met 6-3 and losing to Beaver Campus - PSU 2-5. Mercyhurst College will bring two softball teams to Behrend to scrimmage Mrs. Laudensack’s All-Stars next Tuesday af ternoon. Soccer Team In Scrimmage Behrend soccer fans will be able to preview the 1971 edition of the Cubs at a ‘Blue-White’ intra squad scrimmage. Features include comfortable inside seating and whole walls of glass which make it possible to seethe hamburgers and other food items being prepared. Cubs Sweep Twinbill As They Dump Jamestown C.C. The Behrend Cubs, sparked by the dynamic pitching duo of Tom Wright and Mark Lytle swept a twinbill last Saturday from Jamestown Community College. Wright extended his streak to 28 2/3 innings without yielding an earned run as he shut out the New Yorkers 6-0. The big righthander scattered six hits in running his season record to 3-1. His one loss came last week against Niagara Community College when he_ gave up only one hit. All the came in the first inning as they jumped on the Jamestown starter early. Every Behrend starter has a hit in the first game except for one. The second game followed almost the same pattern. Mark Lytle spun a four hitter as Behrend won 6-1. Lytle also upped his record to 3-1 with the impressive victory. Behrend . plays three doubleheaders in the next eight days starting tomorrow against McKeesport Campus. Next Tuesday they have a return match against Ashtabula-Kent. Behrend defeated the Ohio nine back on April fourteenth-the opening game of Hie season. Finally, Behrend closes out its 1971 campaign on May. 29 against Dubois Campus. After nine games, Don Raydo is leading the team with .484 average. Raydo also has eight RBl’s and one home run. Tom Wright is the top pitcher with a 3- 1 record, 29 strike-outs, and an earned run average of .000 in working 28 3f4 innings.
