Applications at the Union Desk THE NITTAMY CUB Behrend Teamwork Grabs Second Behrend swimmers copped the Commonwealth Campus Swimming Championship for the second consecutive year at University Park last week — outscoring their nearest com petitor by 50 points. Jim Von Kaenel started by captured the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.2 seconds for Behrend’s first event. Roger Pipper took fifth place with a time of 27.5 seconds. In diving competition Mike Joyce grabbed a second place finish with 63.1 points. Tom Gordon of Capitol won the event with a record 87 points. Chris Lampe and Bob Wheeler took second and third in the 50-yard butterfly with times of 29.21 and 31.23 respectively. Rich Fuller of York Campus finished first in record time of 27.62. It was Fresch and Lampe finishing second and third for Behrend in the 50-yard breast stroke with times of 31.92 and 34.14. SPORTS CORNER Two predictions of mine went down the drain this week. The Boston Bruins were dumped by the Montreal Canadians and the Knickerbockers were edged by the Baltimore Bullets. Behrend now holds four of nine records in the Commonwealth Campus meets. The 200-yard medley relay and 50-yard backstroke were both set this year. Fresch holds the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 31.62, set last year. In 1969, Behrend set the record in the 200-yard freestyle relay record in a time of 1:44.41.
