Soccer Team's Best Yet
To Come This Year
"We feel this will be our best
season," That's how head soccer
coach Herb Lauffer, describes
the 1970 Behrend soccer season.
Practice began Monday,
September 21, with two-a-day
workouts. With the onset of
classes, practice sessions were
cut to one-a-day in the afternoon.
The team has scrimmaged Erie
Soccer Club and Edinboro
College to date. A return
scrimmage will be held with the
Erie Soccer Club, tomorrow at
1:30 p.m., at Behrend.
_ Commenting on the pre-season
games Mr. Lauffer said, "Our
pre-season philosophy is to get
the boys in shape, simulate game
conditions and look over all of our
personnel. We've been slow
coming around and have made a
lot of costly mistakes, we did,
however, show definite im
provement in the second
scrimmage with Edinboro."
Three returning sophomore
lettermen are captain, Bill
Walker, center halfback; Harry
Doe, right inside; and Ed Deni,
right fullback. Other returning
sophomores include Dante
Vespignani, outside left and Jack
Meyer, fullback.
