Faso Four SPORTS VIEWS The NBA Season is now completed . . Second-year Milwaukee proved the big surprise of the year as the Bucks won 56 of their 82 games ... We all know the super year put in by Lu Alcindor, as he played in all 82 games, accumulated 2,361 points to lead everyone else. He also placed third in rebounds-grabbed, and was the seventh best field goal shooter . . . But Milwaukee is far from a one man team . . . Fourth round pick Bob Dandridge hustled his way to a fine rookie season, and the guards, John McGlocklin and Flynn Robinson scored 40 points a game between them. Robinson shot free throws at a .898 clip. and McGocklii placed fourth in field goal accuracy . . The best team was 60-22, the New York Knicks .. . Last year Mike Riordan was used early in the year only to the in tentional fouls . . But by mid-season this year was starting and contributing . . . The big five of Bill Bradley, Walt Frazier, Dave Deßuscherre, Dick Barnett, and Willis Reed. played team and de fensive basketball . . Baltimore, at 50-32, were still a good team, better than West leader Atlanta . . . Atlanta edged Los Angeles with a mixture of players . . . Lou Hudson proved an all-star by his fine play and leadership . . . Los Angeles was carried by scoring champ Jerry West most of the season, but rookie Rich Roberson and vet eran Hap Hairston helped to fill at least a part of the gap left by Wilt Chamberlain's injury and Elgin Baylor's aging . Chicago and Phoenix tied for third each 39-43 . . . The recent NBA draft provided the following highlights, Bob Lanier to Detroit, Rudy Tom janovich to San Diego, Pete Maravich to (division leaders!) Atlan ta, as San Francisco took a chance to give their first round pick to possibly lure Zelmo Beatty back to the NBA as a warrior . . . Other draftees, new Portland drafted Jeff Petrie, Jim McMillian to Los Angeles, and Jimmy Collins to Chicago . . . Probably the most shock ing event of the season was the Boston Celtics, 34 wins and 43 losses, sixth place in the east, and eleventh best of the 14 teams.
