Wrestlers Begin
Winter Practice
by Mike McGinley
and Coach Oronato
Coach. Onorato noted that
"This - .year's team is the toughest
and most experienced team. I've
worked with 'at Behrend. We have
looked good in practice and are
stronger than previous teams
here,"
One weakness the team shows
is the lack of depth. With only
5 back-up men and the loss of
Denny Cook-133 pounds, be
cause of knee surgery, depth
could be an influencing factor.
The grapplers are expected to
face the toughest wrestling sched
ule since Mr. Onorato's taking
over as head coach. The season
opens with the Boyce Campus of
Allegheny Community College,
who finished third in the junior
college regional finals last year.
Other teams expected to provide
stiff competition include Lorain,
Penn State Prosh and Clarion
Froth..
The highlight of the Cubs duel
meets will be the appearance of
the Penn. State Frosh on. Jan.-
uary 17 at Erie Hall. This will be
the first meeting between Behr-
end and the University Park
Team in wrestling.
Coach Onorato and the team
are looking forward to an excit

Curcio Chargers .
Lose 15-9; 15-10
On the female side of sports,
Miss Curcio has organized an ex
tramural volleyball team which
plays a three-game schedule. The
first of these games was played
Wednesday night against a Villa
Maria team which was composed
of mostly juniors and seniors.
Our girls lost the two games, 15-
9 and 15-10. The high scorers for
the Curcio Charges were Sue
Manners, 4 (first game), and
Jeanne Williams, 8 (second game).
The complete roster of the team
includes Mary Jane Kramer, Rob
in Davis, Sue Manners, June Post,
Jeanne Williams, Vickie Newlin,
Carol Reed, Mary Etta. Blakeslee,
and Boni Vitulli.
The next contest will be against
the Glenwood Housewives, Tues
day night, in our own Erie Hall.
The last game will be on December
3 at Villa Maria.

The Nationai Basketball As
sociation shows the New York
Knicks as the hottest team. . . .
They are 17-1, that being the
greatest start in the history of
the league . . . They earned their
12th straight (a club record) by
beating the Celtics 113-98 . . .
That was their ninth game in
which the Knick opponents have
failed to score 100 . . . As for
Boston. they are in the East
basement . . . Milwaukee has im
proved, with Alcindor, and they
should make the playoffs . . .
The Atlantic Hawks are doing
well in the West, despite the loss
of Zemo Beatty . . . San Francis
co, with Jerry Lucas rebounding
with Thurmond and company,
should make a run for first place,
especially if another guard to
complement Jeff Mullins is found
. . . Phoenix, with Connie Hawk
ins, and Los Angeles, without
Wilt, are playing near .500 ball
. . . The NFL are pretty well de
cided with Cleveland (6-2-1)
leading St. Louis (3-5-1), Dallas
(8-1) leading Washington (4-3-
2), Minnesota (8-1) leading
Detroit (6-3), and Los Angeles
(9-0) leading Baltimore (5-4) . .
The AFL shows another runaway
(New York over Houston by two
games) and the most exciting
race of all . . . Kansas City is 9-1
