Union Board Presents
Lemon Pipers-Qwigley
The Lemon Pipers and Mr. Quigley will perform at the first Union
Board concert of the year. They will be here Saturday, November 8
and the action will start at 8:00 p.m. Mr. Qwigley is bringing a com
plete light show to the Behrend Campus, so bring your trip glasses.
The Lemon Pipers will perform
their first big hit, "Green Tam
bourine." They will pluck their
electric chicken, play their string
less violin, all for your satisfac
tion. The Lemon Pipers are five
very intelligent young men with
a solid wall of original sound.
They all portray a deep interest
in all types of music. "Rice is
Nice," was their second hit, which
sold over half a million copies.
Ballad, soul, blues and much of
their own material will •be pre
sented to you in their secluded
world of concerts.

The . re-election of Doug Brower_ to the seat of. Chairman of the
Student Government - Association and the choice of John Spielrnann
(Speech Instructor) as that organization's advisor highlighted the
SGA's fourth meeting Wednesday night. Elected -recording and cor- -
responding - secretaries were Janet Atkin and Linda.JulianuresPectively.

Speak: Mind-Drugs
Dr. Allan Y. Cohen will be the guest speaker on "Mind-Drugs: An
Inside Story" next Thursday, November 6. The lecture. 'sponsored by
the Behrend Student union Board. is free and will be held in Erie
Hall at 8:00. Following the lecture, Dr. Cohen will be available for
discussion concerning hallucinogenic drugs and - other narcotics.
Allan Y. Cohen is a consulting
psychologist in Berkeley,' Cali
fornia and Assistant Professor of
Psychology at newly chartered
John F. Kennedy • University (in
Martinez). He graduated with
highest honors from Harvard
College in 1961 and was awarded
a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology by
Havard University in 1966
While a graduate student and

was involved in the early research
with psychedelic drugs. Dr. Co
hen took LSD and related drugs
some thirty times before splitting
with the "psychedelic utopians"
and rejecting the use of chemi

growth.
Before moving to California, he
was Director of Research for Po
tentials, Inc. and a Field Asess
ment Officer for the U.S. Peace
Corps. During 1967 and 1968,
based at Berkeley's Counseling
Center. he functioned as a ther
apist and counselor for the Uni-

Kennedy University, he teaches
courses on mind-altering drugs
and on the enhancement of con
sciousness.
Dr. Cohen has been extremely
active in drug abuse research
and education, directing federally
sponsored studies on the con
temporary drug scene. -He serves
as a consultant in drug eduCa
tion to several national, state and
local agencies, specializing in the
area of alternatives to drugs.
During 1968 and 1969, he has
lectured extensively at high
schools, colleges and professional
organizations throughout the
U.S.A. and in Europe, discussing
topics ranging from drugs and
mysticism to student unrest and
new trends in psychology.
He has authored several arti
cles on various aspects of drugs
and spiritual development, in
professional journals as well as
