The University Calendar has been
under study by the Senate since early
last November, and they are now
questing student and faculty opinion
to be c.nsidered for a possible revis
or the 1969-4970 calendar.
The Senate Calendar Committee
has found that the presently alloted
time between terms is insufficient
for the work that must be done, and

Behrend will host th first
annual Erie Summer Festival of the
Arts as the fin;-_l pro ram in the
Salute to the Arts series. The
week-long program will include con
certs, p rformances, exhibitios
.and workshops. Participating are
the Erie Philharmonic, Erie Art
Center, Erie Company an• - ' the
Erie Civic Theatre.
Appearing will be pianist Gary
Graffman, who is.described by the
French paper Le - igaro as a "phenom
anal pianist". Graffman is the only
artist to record with all of Amer
ica's six leading orchestras and it
is most appropriate that I C D should
open the program.
Also on the prog7-am 7-ill be a
dedication to the ballet,m*ich will
feature many ~u tstanding dancers.
The most notable is Violette Vrdy,
a leading performer with tirte New
York City Ballet.
In the dramatic arts catagory
are Lory iarsh, the leading lady of
TV's SECRET STORM, and' Alexander
Scourby, a notable Broadway actor
and performer for the Erie Civid
Theatr A e.

ture will be conducted by Dr. Selma
Burke, head of the Art Department
at Salsbury School in New Hope,Pa.
The Art Center sponser
"Exhibition 1968", a competitive art
show.
