Through her con cern for higher education, Mrs. Mary Behrend donated the then Glen Hill Farm to the Pennsylvania State University for a branch campus to be called Behrend Center. It is because of this extraordinary consideration that Mrs. Behrend had for higher education that Behrend Campus is what it is today. And to this we would like to pay tribute by dedicating this issue of the Cub to Mary The Penn State Nodal for 1958 E _,:' .!.hrend Pictured above is Mary Behrend receiving the Penn State Medal from Eric Walker, president of the University. The medal was prorosed by the president and adopted by the Board of Trustees in 1957, and its nrincipir purpose is to "recognize and honor achieve ments of persons who have made an outstand ing contribution to higher education in Pennsylvania." The bronze medallion was a warded for the first time in 1958 to Mary Behrend. The medal is prized highly by Mrs. Behrend, and she regards it as a trib ute to the memory of her late husband, Ernest R. Behrend, for whom this campus was named.
