SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP PLANNED S.G.A. is now in the process of implementing a scholarship program for athletes. Although no definite action has been taken, here are pro posals suggested by the committee con sisting of Ron Batchelor, Carol De Armeii Coach Sweeting„ and Mr. Onorato: .The scholarship will cover one term's tuition s that is $l3O. This will apply to the winter term only. Money will come from the traffic fine fund. $9OO. has accumulated in this fluid in the last couple of years. $4OO of this money will probably be used to provide three scholarships for winter term 1968, The Booster Club may elect to match this amount, and then six scholarships may be given. Selection will probably be based on need, athletic ability, the recommenda tion of Sweeting and Onorato, scholar ship of at least 2.0, and the possible approval of the Behrend committee on Student Aid. The committee also felt that scholarships should go to some non-athletes contributing much time to other organizations. Dean lane wet-blanketed the suggestion, saying it is in "poor taste.' Temporarily, at least, only athletes are being considered for this money. Coach Sweeting hopes the money will help persuade local students to consider Behrend. He wants the type who is a fine athlete as well as a good student; some one who will contribute to clubs as well as sports. Anyone having any opinions about this program can appear mt an S.G.A. meeting or write a letter to the editor. =EI /.0;:j S - L 1 / \ /6- I; / -r•-• _ _ DOES ANYONE HAVE A PTIZOS?
