808 NaCHAELS SPEAKS ON OSGA About six years ago a new Penn State organization was formed. It's name was to be the Organization of Student Government Associations, or commonly referred to as O.S.G.A. It was the goal of the members of O.S.G.A. to unite fully all of the Commonwealth Campuses that each may profit by this unity. Certainly, the responses to this organization have been most successful and much good has come fom it. However, as in all good things, certain problems do arise. It has been most difficult to bring the Undergraduate Student Government of University Park under the auspices of O.S.G.A. Now this is very understandable: USG has a long and illustrious history. It harks back to the first days of Penn State and has grown to heights which few students realize. USG has a seat on the Unitersity Senate. It represents the entire population of Penn State. USG has a large voice in student affairs. In short, USG has been the voice speaking for each and every student on all of the Commonwealth Camouses. Tibet has evolved is this. Instead of OSGA representing all Penn State students, as it is deemed by the admfnistration, it has b@en USG. And for six years countless attempts have been made to unite these two great organ izations under OSGA. Last week at our OS'IA meeting at University Park, President Barry Brandeis made the following proposal. WOuld it be possible to unite under USG? A nTresen tative for every 2,000 students in the Commonwealth? If so, how about SGA communication? Certainly it would promulgate much more closeness between all campuses. This necessitates much time, effort, and study of possible problems. This means a revision of OSGA and USG constitutions. This means you will be affected in the end. what do you think? DEAR JOHN W. 166: A psychiatrist whom we cited two weeks ago in reference to graffiti said that people have a need to make themselves known. Those who can afford to, build forty-story office buildings and have their ,names put on the front. Those who cannot simply scribble their names on walls and fences. We noticed your name on one of the seats of the Science Building lounge. We hope that doing this has helped fulfill your Quest for identity. We also hope that the other juveniles mill not follow suit. --73ditor . - 3ric Walker is now beginning his eleventh year as President of Penn State. * * *
