Behrend Vol. XVIII No. 4 After two weeks of daily practice, and with only two weeks remaining before the opening game, Behrend's intercollegiate basket ball team is shaping up into what is expected to be the strongest cage team ever fielded by the cam pus. Six sophomores return from last year's 14-7 squad which set a number of records including total victories and total points. Leading this year's team will be newly elected co-captains Joe Williams and Ron Hornyak, number one and two scorers on last year's team, respectively. Williams, who also led last year's team in re- bounds, will play a forward, while Hornyak, the team's leading play maker, will team at guard with "Barney" Etsel, third highest scor er on last year's team. In the pivot will be another sophomore, Tom Taylor, who let last year's team in shooting percentage (50%). Vying for the fifth starting pos ition are sophomores Rick Dylew- THE NITTANY CU Best Cagers Ever pfKi3DOM•titillepl ski and Bruce Reinhart, both of whom looked good before being slowed by pre-season injuries, and freshman Howie McGregor. All three are ex pected to see considerable action at the forwards. Other candidates for these twelve uniforms include freshmen guards Tom Rutkowski, Dave Merritt, and Bob Ham ilton, Sophomore John Pyle at center, and freshmen forwards Bob Locke, Dave Frazier, and "Dusty" Kurtic. Of these Rutkowski and Merritt have the most experience and appear most likely to get regular playing time. This will be a relatively small team--Williams, at 6' 3-0" and Tay lor and Pyle at 6'2" are the largest --but Coach Sweeting believes that good scoring balance, team speed, experience, and aggressive defensive play will be the factors which will help overcome lack of size. The team and spectators will g 0 to Oil City against Venango Campus of Clarion State on Nov. 22, 8:00 p.m. Nov. 14, 1966
