The Behrend golf team made its debut at
Ashtabula on Tuesday with an 11-7 conquest
of the Ashtabula Center of Kent State.
Coupled with the perfect season of last
year, Tuesday's windswept contest was
Behrend's sixth victory without a setback.
The low individual was John Huff of
Behrend with an 87. Both Huff and Ray
Vanstone whitewashed their opponents.
On Friday, April 29, Behrend will meet
a tough Jamestown Community College team at
the Downing Golf Course.

Following league play, a tournament was
held in which the team captained by Barney
Etzel pulled the upset of the year by
beating out Walt's team in the finals.
Etzel's team included Ron Hornyak, Joe
Williams, Randy Lackowski, Rick Dylewski,
Denny Hudacky, and Bill Cox.
This program was very successful and
the interest was high. The seven teams
competing played a total of 76 games.
There will be an intermural badminton
single elimination tournament beginning
Thursday May 5 beginning at 11 A.M. All
games will be played during common hours.
Anyone may enter by signing up with Coach
Sweeting or by being in Erie Hall before
starting time.
Dan Chase and John Vorberger have been
elected co-captains for the coming season.
After 7 practice games, 3 in the past
week, Coach Sweeting says that he is
"more optimistic than ever." The team
looks solid at all positions and the
starting lineup is pretty well set.
By the time this article is printed
Behrend will have played its first game.
Right now things look good for Behrend to
win a lot of games for a change.
