Vol. XVII No. 8 On January 22, and 23, Behrend Campus became the host for the annual Inter— Campus League. Tournament. Competing in the tournament were teams from Dußois, Shenango Valley, Beaver, and of course Behrend battling for auprem,- acy in chess, table tennis, and bowling,, Copping the honors on the checkered board were Dave Hiles and Pete Torrey for Behrend each with won 3--lost 0 records. Behrend captured 8 out of a possible 9 points to contribure to its rout of the tournament. Meanwhile, in table tennis Bob Hamilton, and Frankie Polimene com pletely outclassed their opponents and compiled 19-3 and 16-10 won-lost records respectively. In this event Behrend again routed and scored 26 of 30 possible points. The winner in the bowling competition held at the Erie Coliseum wasn't de cided until as late as the last frame of the final game. Dave Held of Behrend bowled the high game of the event, rolling a 221 score. John Wooster had the highest Behrend team average of 184 which was only one pin below the overall average leader. As was the trend through gut the tour nament, Behrend came out victorious netting 20 of 24 possible points. The final standings saw Behrend on top with 54 points, Dubois second with 34, Beaver next with 21, and Shenango Valley had 17. Congratulations to the Behrend t earns REPEAL THE INCOME TAX? Mr. John Bedford, an assistant prssor of engineering here at the I.C.L.T. Behrend Carus Erie Pa. Behrend Campus, will give a speech concerning the proposed repeal of the income tax on Monday, January 31 in Room 101 at 7:30 P.M. He will explain how the repeal of the income tax would benefit our nation and how it would affect different parts of the country, and also what it would do for certain individuals. and groups. Mr. Bedford has been doing individual research as a sort of hobby for the past four or five years on the Liberty Amendment, of which the repeal of the income tax is a part, and feels this proposed amendment is something every one should be familiar with.. It has been introduced in most state legisla tures, including Pennsylvania's, and has been formally approved by at least seven states. It has had bi-partisan support. The complete text of the Liberty Amendment follows: "Section 1. The Government of the United States shall not engage in any business, professional commer cial, financial or industrial enter prise except as specified in the Constitution. "Section 2, The constitution or la:r.s of any state, or the laws of the United States shall not be sub ject to the terms of any foreign or domestic agreement which would abrogate this amendment, "Section 3. The activities of the United States Government which violate the intent and puroc ses of this amendment shall, within a period of three years from the date af the ratification of this amendment, be liquidated and the properties and facilities affected shall be sold, "Section 4.
