Alumnae Assoc. Plans Activities for Behrend The Alumnae Association of Behrend Campus held a meeting on Monday, February 15th in Room 101, Otto Behrend Science Building. Behrend Campus. Pres ent for the meeting were: James Benson. President; Walter Park er. Treasurer: Richard Mytenzer, Mr. and Mrs. David Howell, At tm. ney Roger Fisher, Tom Bundey, Michele Bloxham, Marty Penning ton, President of Circle K; Bob Carlson and Dean Benjamin Lane of the Behrend faculty. TRAFFIC COURT ADDS MEMBERS STUDENTS BEWARE!! The Behrend Traffic Court is back in operation!! The traffic court was recently re-staffed, bringing the total number to five. The two members remaining from the Fall Term, Jim Brennan and Bill Kern, have been joined by three new mem bers, Les Bloom, Roger Johnson. and Bob Ronczka. Les Bloom. a fifth-term en gineering student, hails from Erie, Pa. Roger Johnson, a pre-med student, also resides in Erie. Bob Ronczka, residing in Wesleyville, during the school term. has his roots in Ambridge, Pa. The first meeting of the traffic court for the Winter Term was held during Common Hour on Thursday, February 18, 1965. Three Behrend students had ap pealed their fines, and appeared before the court to present their If you have appealed a case to the traffic court, watch the bul letin boards for a notice of your hearing BERREND CAMPUS—The Pennsylvania State University Discussion was held on various projects which would be mutually beneficial to both students and the Alumnae. The Alumnae in vited the Student Government Association and other student or ganizations to share opinions and views. The two affairs planned at this meeting were an ice-skating par ty to be held within the next few weeks at Glenwood Rink for the Alumnae and students of the Behrend Campus, and a tentative dinner-dance to be held in the spring Plans for next year's Home coming were also discussed before the meeting adjourned. Penn Singers Present Opera The Penn State Singers, under the direction of Raymond Brown, presened an opera buffa in Eng lish and a variety of other choral music in Erie Hall, Saturday, February 20 at 8:00 p.m. The op era presented was La Serva Pedrona (English trans lation—The Maid As Mistress) by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. This opera, written in 1733, was the first successful comic opera ever written. This particular opera has had many successful performances AT REGIONAL MEET! G The Western Regional OSGA Conference for the Winter Term was held on February 19 and 20 at the Altoona Campus. Behrend was represented by Tom Bundy. Bill Harding. Michelle Bloxham, Tom O'Connor, Terri Totten, Bob Carlson and Steve Fine. In discussing the role of the SGA and the Administration it was decided that the SGA should take all the responsibility it can handle provided it can administer and enforce any regulations which it envokes. If the SGA fails in meeting its responsibilities, the projects would revert back under the authority of the administra tion. A resolution that the bill per taining to the OSGA conferences be adopted by the entire student organization was passed by the Western division. This proposed bill would make the summer con ference for carryover SGA mem in America. Other works which the singers presented included three Spanish Christmas of the 16th century, two duets for two sopranos by Luigi Cherubini, folk songs from the British Isles ar ranged by Gustav Hoist and Ralph Vaughn Williams, and madrigals. motets, and carols by 16th and 17th century composers. 17th century composers. Approxi mately 300 persons were in at tendance for the performance. Thursday, Feb. 25, 1965 bers only instead of present policy of including potential SGA fresh men. The fall conference, which would be held during the Crrist- Inas break, would then include the newly elected freshmen and orientate them to SGA policies. The spring conference would be extended to three days instead of the original two. In outlining the Commission System, it was agreed that there should be a centralized system established at University Park. It was suggested that a trial com mission system on a decentralized bases be established in the west ern part of the state to encourage communication and unity among campuses. With the expansion program cf most commonwealth campuses, it was recommended that an or ganization on all campuses be established that would function as an activities board. This board would take care of all the activi ties sponsored by clubs, raise funds, and set up the calendar of events. Campus Staff Enlarged The staff of the Nittany Cul would like to extend a welcome ti three new employees at the Behr end Campus. Mrs. Eloise Hostet ler, wife of mathematics instruc tor Robert Hostetler, replaces Mr: Geraldine Bolla as nurse. Mr: Hostetler, originally from Woos ter, Ohio, graduated from the Riv erside Hospital School of Nurs ing (Newport News, Va.) and wa previously employed at Universit Park. Mrs. Edna Babcock replace Mrs. Marcella Armstrong as Cler in the library. Miss Kathleen Bossolt has bee employed in the Otto Behren Science Building as Secretar3 Bookkeeper.
