    Sir Gawain Of
The Green
by HAKBY MILNE
In full recognition of his sterling
performance at the Moonbrook
Country Club, Jamestown, N. Y.
and the Erie Golf Course, The
NITTANY CUB wishes to extend
its fullest congratulations to Dave
Liebau.
Although the Behrend Campus
team was defeated at both games,
Dave shot a sparkling 79 to win
overall medalist at Moonbrook, and
an outstanding 75 to again win
overall medalist at the Erie Golf
Course.
This is not the first display cf
his talent in golf. Dave was Glen
wood Champ in 1959 and again in
1960. Also, he was captain of the
Strong Vincent Golf Team for the
years 1958, 1959 ,ana 1960. As a
senior at Vincent, he placed ninth
in a golf tournament held at the
Main Campus. In the Erie City
Sportscope
The hands of defeat greeted
Behrend Campus’ Soccer Team in
its only two encounters of the

with Grove City, the team entered
the scoring column first with a
goal by Chuck Gilmore. But that
was all, as Grove City tallied four
goals and walked off the field with
a 4-1 victory.
In our second game which was
played against Slippery Bock Col
lege, in a constant rain, the Behr
end Soccer Team was handed a
goose-egg as Slippery Bock rolled
up 4 poirits to Behrend’s 0.
Behrend Center’s 1960 Soccer
Team consisted of the following
men:
Wings: Bob Johnson, Walt
Burkhard, Denny Conrath.
Insides: Art Winschell, Bob
Wickles, Denny Ziolkowski, Dan

Lewis.

more.

And to the sports fans of the
Nittany Cub, let us see if you
can name the player referred to
in this famous eulogy:
We’ve been to the wars together;
We took our foes as they came;
And always you were the leader,
And ever you played the game.
Idol of cheering millions;
Records are yours by the
Sheaves;
Iron of frame then hailed you,
Decked you with Laurel leaves.
But higher then that we hold
you,
We who have known you best;
Knowing the way you came
through
Every human test.
Let this be a silent token
Of lasting friendship’s gleam
And all that we’ve left unspoken.
—Your pals of the Yankee team.
He is the same fellow that said,
“I’m not a headline guy, Pm just
the fellow who follows Ruth.”
Ans.: LOU GEHRIG.
