ME. FRANOIS McBRIDE. Mr. Francis Mcßride, one of the pub Eaters of our paper, has entered into rest in his twenty fourth year, dying of consumption at Prairie du Chien, Tues day, Aug. 3, while on his way home' from Minnesota. The deceased was a brother of the late Rev. Matthew 'Mc- Bride, a former Editor of THE BANNER or THE COVENANT, and it was mainly through the influence exerted by that sincere and valued Christian brother when on his death-bed,that Mt M. was brought to east his lot iith•the' Church o f God. By a consistent Wilk and pro fession, and his many eitielleneies of character, he bed endeared himself to a wide circle of business . and . social ac quaintance. He '• was, ou the .point. of starting for - Minnesota in erulY, 1868, when the startlingly suddeti'death o f his brother-in-law and Partper,,Jas; B. itod gers, compelled him to remain.. When at last (about two months ago) he did reach that more favored 'clirnate, it was found that his health had tem' low to admit of his recovery. P•Y the force . of a strong will, and the itd of a natural ly cheerful and hopeful, dieposition, he buoyed himself.up for a-timeouid then started to return, viishirigto die'at and among , his friefids; but only lived to reach Prairie du °Len, where he died at the R. R. hotel... ilia last hours were made as easy as: the loving care of mother and sister could render them, and among his last uttered requests was' the wish that his mother "would t:ead that grand promise " to the angel of. the church in Philadelphia,"l.ll.ev. His remains were followed to theii last resting place by a large company 'of friends, including six, ministers of . the Gospel, on , satarday afternoon, the eolipbe just .begirmiug atthe oloseof this funeral of one 'whose - " sun ''had gone down at noon."
