    Third Best Road Score
for Nittany Lions
The Penn State-Harrisburg golf team finished fifth, out of
19 teams, at the Moravian College Spring Classic today,
posting the third-best road score in team history.
The Lions' shot a team total of 320 over the 6,450-yard
layout at Woodstone CC in Danielsville. Penn State-Har
risburg was led by Geoff Morrison (Jr.:Bishop McDevitt)
who shot 78, and Max Hrip (So-Cumberland Valley), who
fired a 79.
Other Lions' scores included Shane Woodman (Jr-Done
gal), with an 80, Bobby Proietto (Fr-Lower Dauphin), with
an 83, and Brad Goss (Jr-Palmyra), with an 84.
Penn State-Harrisburg's two highest road scores are a 317
from the fall 2007 Penn State-Berks Invitational (Fox
Chase GC) and a 319 from the second round of the North
east Athletic Conference championship last spring (Caze
novia CC).
Franklin & Marshall's 310 edged Messiah by one stroke,
although Messiah's Matt Burkhart was the medalist with
a 74.

A Tough Battle Leaves
Lady Lions Short
The Penn State Harrisburg women's softball team stretch
the two time defeating North Eastern Athletic Conference
champions, Keuka College, to 14 innings of hard nose
softball Friday, April 2 at the Penn State Harrisburg soft
ball field.
It would be a pitcher's duel in game one between blue and
white's Erika Sorenson, York, PA/Red Land, and Storm
pitcher Allison Richter, with both pitchers not allowing a
hit in the first three innings of play. Keuka Storm would
then score a combined eight runs in the fourth and fifth
inning to increase their lead to nine, but the Lady Lions
would answer back with three runs of their own in the bot
tom half of the fifth to get back within six, 9-3.
The fifth inning would be the only mark Penn State Harris
burg would make with Richter holding the blue and white
to one base runner in the sixth and seventh inning to cap
ture the 12-3 victory.
In the bottom half of the seventh inning of the second
game and a leadoff double by Jessica Shuey, Hummel
stown, PA/Lower Dauphin, the Lady Lions would threaten
the 4-2 Keuka lead. With a base hit by Courtney Miller,
Mifflintown, PA/Mifflintown, and an error on the short
shop, Montana McDonald, the blue and white would pull
within one, with Amanda Sviben, Steelton, PA/Steelton-
Highspire, scoring from third, pinch hitting for Shuey.
With the tying run at third base, Storm pitcher, Cherie
Smith, would get Christi Renno, McAlisterville, PA/East
Juniata, to lineout to centerfield to end the ballgame in fa
vor of Keuka, 4-3.

Golf Team Scores
Second Place
at Elizabethtown
Tournament
It was a record-breaking day for the Penn State-Harris
burg golf team, as they posted a second-place finish today,
out of 11 teams, at the Elizabethtown College Blue Jay
Spring Classic.
The Lions fired a 301 over the East course at Hershey
Country Club, falling to Messiah College by just one shot.
The 301 is a school record for Penn State-Harrisburg. The
previous mark of 309 was set two years ago in a home
event at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course.
In addition, Max Hrip (So-Cumberland Valley) and Bob
by Proietto (Fr-Lower Dauphin) both fired a 1-over 72 to
day. That number eclipses the previous school individual
standard, 74, set by Shane Woodman last spring in a home
tri-match. Other Penn State-Harrisburg scores today in
cluded Geoff Morrison (Jr-Bishop McDevitt) firing a 76,
Woodman (Jr-Donegal) posting an 81, and Brad Goss (Jr-
Palymra) finishing with an 85.
Hrip and Proietto posted two of the four 72's on the day,
with a match of scorecards declaring Hrip the individual
runner-up in the 60-player field
Penn State-Harrisburg gets back into action Sunday at
Dauphin Highlands, as they host the two-day Penn State-
Harrisburg Spring Classic. The tournament gets underway
at noon.

Nittany Lions take two from Keuka
Two tremendous outings from sophomores Dan Vignola,
West Islip, NY/West Islip and Jonathan Ventura, Bronx,
NY/Herbert H. Lehman boost the Penn State Harrisburg
baseball team past conference opponent, Keuka College,
Friday, April 2 at the Penn State Harrisburg baseball field,
6-0 and 6-1.
In game one, Vignola would only give up two hits in
seven innings of work, striking out 10 batters en route to
his second straight 10-strikeout performance.
Offensively the Nittany Lions had four players with at
least two or more hits capped off by a 3-for-3 game from
Brett Harmon, Palmyra, PA/Palmyra who captured two
RBIs and two runs. The blue and white bats were able to
produce 9 more hits to ensure the 6-0 victory.
In game two, Ventura relied on an errorless defense, forc
ing Storm hitters into 12 fly outs and eight ground outs
allowing seven hits and an earned run in seven innings of
work.
The bats would remain hot for the Nittany Lions scoring
six more runs off eight hits featuring a two run home run
by Drew Kramer, Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley
in the bottom of the third to put the blue and white up,
3- 1 .
Harmony would finish the day going a perfect 5-for-5
with three RBIs and three runs. Kramer ended his day go
ing 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs.
After starting the season 0-10, Penn State Harrisburg has
won their last five out of six games, going 5-1 in the con
ference putting them second in the west division.
