“The Little Shop of Horrors” comes to PSH By PHILIP NARSH Staff Writer PSNSOOI@PSU.EDU Something horrible is growing in the second floor auditorium of the Olmsted building. It’s shocking, it’s terrifying, it’s mean and green; it’s “The Little Shop of Horrors!” This November, theater professor Jim Johnson and the Capital Players will present the classic drive-in monster movie turned musical, “Little Shop of Horrors,” Penn State Harrisburg’s first of two musicals for the 2009-2010 semester. Steven Howell, a Capital Players veteran, will play the lead role of Seymour. A junior civil engineering major at Penn State Harrisburg, Howell’s past credits include Slightly Soiled in “Peter Pan”, Billy Crocker in “Anything Goes,” Motel in “Fiddler on the Roof,” Jesus in “Godspell,” Lamar in another “Godspell” and Roger “Rump” in “Grease.” He currently directs the PSH Gospel Choir, Sounds of Praise, and has been singing since before he was able to talk. Sophomore Jordyn McCrady takes the leading female role of Audrey—the girl, not the plant. McCrady, a self acclaimed actress, singer, dancer and snowboarder, has performed with the Capital Players once before as Rizzo in “Grease.” Freshman Gregg Travitz is new to the Capital Players and Pictured is one of the cigarette butt bins which smokers seem disregard, A number of butts can be found on the ground. Neferteri Zulu, Yasmine Roc and Sierra Morris will make up the singing trio of Skid Row ragamuffins known as Chiffon, Crystal and Ronnette. Last but not least, the chorus will be made up of Danielle Harrow, Nicki Black, Rachel Fameth, Dustin McQuaid, and Dusty Hoepfer.
