Penn State Harrisburg's SGA is proof that a little snow will not keep them from
doing business. Despite the poor weather conditions, the January 27 meeting had
nine members in attendance just enough to make a quorum.
At the meeting, Vice President Anthony Strayer announced this semester's first
Organizational Advisory Board meetings will be held Tuesday February 3 at 9
p.m. and Wednesday February 4 at 8 a.m. SGA approved funds for food at both
of the meetings. The OAB is an inter-club meeting for all the clubs on campus to
discuss the activities they are doing. There were several meetings last semester,
all of which had moderate success.
Advisor Janet Widoff announced that $15,000 is available for the SAF/FAA
accounts
SGA voted to approve the allotment of this money into the student activities
account with a minimum $15,000 cap. This money will be allocated to the clubs,
for use during the spring semester, based on their budget requests, which were to
be submitted to the SGA this week.
"This money will be available to any organization," Widoff said.
Currently, SAF has enough money to meet the proposal requests that were sub
mitted. At the next SGA meeting, February 3, Cutchall will discuss the SAF in
greater detail.
Widoff asked the SGA for feedback on what to do with the television in the stu
dent lounge, which now houses the new microwave. The television is in need of
costly repairs, which amount to $3OO to $350 dollars. Should the television be
fixed and given a hanging apparatus or should the SGA invest in a new one?
However, Widoff was unsure, if once fixed, the television would be used by the
students. Senator Ted Miller questioned fixing the television when the students
may not even use it. Senator Mike Green agreed and suggested disposing the old
television and tabling the discussion of a new television until next semester. SGA
decided to sell the old television for a reasonable price and discuss the possibility
of buying a new one next semester.
SGA is still preparing fundraisers for THON. A T-shirt and ribbon sale will take
place next week with Faulkner Honda donating food for the sale.
