Our biannual humanities open forum will be held Tue Nov. 11 at 5:05 p.m. in the Gallery Lounge

A HIGHLIGHT OF THE SUMMER READING PROGRAM IS HERE
(Harrisburg and Schuylkill)
Louise Steinman, author of the 2003 Capital College Summer Reading Program selection, "The
Souvenir," will meet with Harrisburg students, faculty, and staff on Mon Nov. 10 from 3 to 4:30
p.m. in the Gallery Lounge and on Tue Nov. 11, with Schuylkill students, faculty, and staff in the
Conference Center from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.; 11 a.m. to noon; and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. As you may
know, all new first-year students to PSH were provided a copy of this book at 2003 FTCAP to
read over the summer. Instructors, advisers, and friends of FY students of the Capital College:
please make this extraordinary opportunity known to these students in particular and encourage
them to attend. All other students, faculty and staff are also most welcome to attend.
VETERANS DAY CEREMONY NOV. 11
At 11 a.m., adjacent to the flag poles in front of the library (rain location: Morrison Gallery).
Guest speaker will be Colonel Stephen Bloomer, currently a student at the U.S. Army War
College, Carlisle Barracks. After the ceremony, the XGI Fraternity will be providing lunch for
veterans and attendees in the Gallery Lounge: Everyone is welcome to join in and participate in a
veteran discussion group following lunch. Any veterans who are interested in being recognized in

The Penn State Harrisburg chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda, the adult honor society, announces
that applications are now available in the Student Assistance Center, W-117, for its second annual
$5O book grant award. Applicants must be adult learners according to University definition, but
do not have to be ASL members. Applications for the spring 2004 award are due Dec. 5,2003.
