Fall Fest 'O3 offers clubs a
chance to work together
It has been said that there is power in numbers. Such is the case at Penn State Harrisburg.
Anthony Strayer, SGA vice president, said that by helping each other, campus clubs can plan larg
er activities.
"Clubs can plan together and draw larger interest from students," Strayer said. "If several clubs
plan an event together, they could each contribute some money instead of one club trying to pay
for it all."
It is likely that larger events will draw a larger number of students. Campus clubs want to provide
fun events for students and in turn raise more money for their causes.
Another benefit of working together is word of mouth.
"If three clubs are co-sponsoring an event, there are three times the number of students involved
that can spread the word around and make the student body aware of the activity," Strayer said.
A chance for clubs to collaborate is just around the corner. This year's Fall Fest is a great oppor
tunity for clubs and organizations to volunteer their time and work together. Fall Fest will be Oct.
21 from noon-2 p.m. in Vartan Plaza and from 5-6 p.m. in the main lobby of Olmsted. Clubs can
volunteer their time working at the Fall Fest tables. All students should come and celebrate their
school and the autumn season. There will be free food, hot chocolate, pumpkin decorating, caramel
apples, live music, free recipe books, treat bags and games. Campus clubs are invited to enter the
pumpkin decorating contest. Pumpkins will be voted on by students, and will provide some friend
ly competition between clubs.
Carol McNamee, Assistant Coordinator of Student Activities, encourages clubs to get involved.
"This is a great social event for everyone at Penn State Harrisburg. Having the clubs and organi
zations volunteer their time at the event creates a sense of community and involvement on campus,
as well as gain some very good exposure for their group," McNamee said. Fall Fest is a good
opportunity for clubs to meet and interact with each other. Common events like this are paramount
in voicing and listening to other clubs' ideas for the future.
Fall Fest is sponsored by the Student Activities Office, Entertainment Council, Student
Government Association and the Student Activity Fee.
