The new food court is exactly what this campus
needed. Prior to the addition, there were places to
hang out, but none were more aesthetically pleasing
than the new wing on the first floor. The computer
lab is too cramped and I always feel like I am inter
fering with someone's work whenever I talk to any
one in there. The library has plenty of space, but is
obviously not a place for spirited conversation, and
the front porch of Olmsted probably is not fun for
non-smokers.
Now we have a beautiful wide-open hallway with comfortable places to sit,
laptop computer ports, and good food. The atmosphere of Penn State Harrisburg
has been greatly improved. Though I still hear complaints from former students
who were promised a food court
and never got one, it is great for
those of us here now
Look for two big screen TVs to
be placed in the food court in the
coming weeks, one behind
Biscotti's coffee shop and another
by the special events room.

I also want to let students know
about their new Student
Government President, Lee
Cutchall. I have worked with four SGA presidents to date, and Cutchall has
been the easiest to work with out of them all. He is accessible to students
because he does not hide-out in the office all the time. He already has good
ideas for events and knows a lot about this campus. I encourage all students to
come to him with their problems and concerns regarding this campus. He, along
with the staff of Capital Times, can and will do something to help resolve any
issues.

We have plenty of good stories to be written in the coming issues. Penn State
Harrisburg is expecting a couple hundred more freshmen in the Spring 2004
semester. As of then, Penn State Harrisburg will offer freshmen and sophomore
level courses for all of Penn State's 160 majors. The Capital Times will follow
this situation throughout the year. Also, we are hoping to write an article about
the inter-collegiate sports we used to have here on campus. It will address
whether or not we can bring them back. Next issue will feature an article about
our campus radio station, WPSH. It is not up and running now, but we are
attempting to find out when it will be.
We will try to find out what will happen to Meade Heights, which is where stu
dents lived on-campus until Fall 2002, when the Village opened. We will also
investigate what will happen to the Lion's Den, our old cafeteria in the base
ment. As of now, both places are collecting dust.
We will have humorist Dave Barry columns in almost every issue, an adventure
and nightlife column, intramural sports coverage, concert, album, and movie
reviews, and coverage of campus events. Hope you enjoy.
