I am writing in regards to your article about THON in the last issue of The
Capital Times. I feel that the Quotes taken from Parul Luthra in that issue contra
dict the quotes that were in the Patriot News on Sunday, February 23, 2003. In that
particular article about THON she was quoted, "I never fail anything. It's personal
for me." while in the Cap Times Article she says, "It's about the kids. How much
you want to be with them and help them." She is also quoted in the Patriot News
stating that she gave up inconsequential things like chocolate and then went into
training for the dance marathon. What does this have to do with helping Four
Diamonds Families? Does anyone else see a distinct contradiction in these state
ments?
From what I know of Parul, it seems to me that everything she does is
always about herself instead of about the other people involved in that situation
(SGA, THON, campus events, etc.). It almost looks like SGA is a one man show
You never hear about anyone else's accomplishments such as Lee Cutchall's devo
tion and major involvement in the THON cause. His enthusiasm and dedication
were evident in the same Patriot News article and he withheld the same attitude in
the Capital Times's piece as well. So why is everyone so hung up on congratulating
her? Where was Lee's recognition? Where was the acknowlegment that should have
been given to the other SGA members and the other clubs that helped raise money
for THON? It really disturbs me to think that the person who is our student body
president could be so selfish and self absorbed!
I would like our student body to think about who they want to represent
them in the upcoming Fall Semester. Penn State Harrisburg needs to elect a person
who will ensure the state of this institution; a person who is dedicated to not only
being there for the student body, but also for their SGA and other Penn State Clubs.
Sincerely,
An Anonymous and Concerned Student
