in a college or university is a tradi
tion on many campuses, and the
current show at the Morrison
Gallery of the new library honors
that tradition by bringing together
the art of four of its faculty: Nancy
Mendes of Etters, Instructor of
Humanities; Linda Mylin Ross of
Lancaster, Assistant Professor of
Education and Humanities; Victor
Viser of York, Assistant Professor
of Humanities and
Communication; and Samuel P.
Winch of Harrisburg,
Communications Program
Coordinator and Associate
Professor of Humanities and
Communication. The show will run
through March 21
Mezzo-soprano Loretta Giles will present songs from Spanish
and African American heritages including opera, Broadway, sym
phony, television, and radio recording. She willl be accompanied
by Raymond Jackson from Howard University's Department of
Music. Wednesday, Feb. 19, noon, Gallery Lounge.
Fitness and Exercise Classes
Free fitness and exercise classes led by Andres Gutierrez began
Jan. 13. The classes are held every Monday and Wednesday, 5:30
to 6:30 p.m., in the Multipurpose Room of the Capital Union
Building. The classes are free to Penn State students, staff, facul
ty, and current Penn State Alumni Association members.
Registration is not required. For further information call the

Ride the Chariot
Ride the Chariot is a musical journey through the music of
African American composers. The journey explores the musical
genres of classical art songs, opera, Broadway/musical theater
and Negro spirituals composed by noted African Americans. Feb
19, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Olmsted Auditorium.
Model U.N.
The International Affairs Association (lAA) is seeking help with
staffing its 31st annual High School Model United Nations con
ference. lAA meets every Wednesday at 4 p.m., starting Jan 29.
