Volleyball Wednesdays From 8 to 11 p.m. each week in the CUB gym. The Harrisburg campus Volleyball Club will have three courts open. You can form your own team o show up on your own to join the fun (if coming solo, the club suggests you arrive around 8 p.m. for easier team accommodations). The club is also interested in playing a faculty team in a tourna ment at the end of the semester. Students are asked to encourage faculty to form a team. Fitness and Exercise Classes Free fitness and exercise classes led by Andres Gutierrez will begin on the Harrisburg campus. The classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Multi-purpose Room of the Capital Union Building. The classes are free to Penn State students, staff, faculty, and current Penn State Alumni Association members. Registration is not required. Recreation Tournament Once again PSH will compete in the Association of College Unions International Region 4 Recreation Tournament that will be hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on February 7 and 8. Plans call for local tournamen to be held in bowling, billiards and table tennis, and the winners of these tournaments will repre sent PSH in February. Martin Luther King Day Events on Campus Monday, Jan. 20, 9 a.m., Gallery Lounge, Martin Luther King Breakfast Celebration La-Verna Fountain, a 1983 Penn State Harrisburg graduate with a degree in Public Policy, will be keynote speaker for the breakfast who which the entire campus community is invited. Monday, Jan. 20, noon to 1 p.m. Performance of an original play, "Day Day's Quilt." Written and directed by Assistant Professor of Social Science Dorothy King, "Day Day's Quilt" depicts several generations of an African American family as they move out of slavery to a prominent position in their community. The focal point of the play is Day Day, a slave woman who pays a great price to hold her family together. Monday, Jan. 20, 5 to 6 p.m. Cultural Speakers Series features the Rev. Marcia Dyson The Rev. Marcia Dyson, well-known author and a contributing writer for Essence Magazine, is a native of Chicago, an ordained minister, engaged social and cultural critic, and inspiring writer. Her lecture will focus on an examination of ministerial misconduct, sexual exploitation, and gender oppression in the Black church, where she expos es the theological, sexual, gendered, and racial contradictions in the heart of Black Americans religious institutions while clearing a path of res cue and reconciliation that men and women of all faiths and races might take as they seek psychic healing and spiritual restoration. Dr. King's life and dreams will be cele brated in song, dance, and recitals performed by choirs and choruses from the Greater Harrisburg community. Last year, more than a dozen groups participated. Bellecourt, an internationally renowned activist, is a member of the Chippewa Tribe of the Lakota Nation and President of the National Coalition on Racism in Sports & Media and received the City of Phoenix Martin Luther King Human Rights Award.
