Design, LLC. Snizik summarizes his work
thus: "While it's true that the structures anc
spaces in which we live, work, and play
provide us with the shelter and protection
that we need at the most basic level, they
also serve as silent, if not always perma
nent, testaments to the creativity and endur
ing nature of the human spirit." Center hall

MORRISON GAUUEM
An art exhibit from Group Doshi of the
Susquehanna Art Museum is on display through
Dec. 13 in the Morrison Gallery of the Library.
“Late Nite at the CUB", November 20 and December 11 from 9 p.m. to midnight.
Plans call for a guest speaker at each program discussing topics of interest to the stu
dent population. There will also be tournaments in such activities as table tennis, rac
quetball, billiards, chess, checkers, etc. At the conclusion of each program snacks will
be provided. Anyone who would like to suggest topics they would like to see present
ed can call the Recreation/Athletic Department at 948-6267. Some topics that are
presently being considered center around healthy eating, lifetime activities and their

Denise Hart and Bob Ferguson will be the guest speakers
at the next scheduled "Late Nite at the CUB” that will be held on Wednesday,
November2oth. Denise is a personal trainer and owns her own business, (Focused on
Fitness). She has a B.S. in both Exercise Science and Physical Education, and is certi
fied by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Bob is a representative
from Life Fitness and will be demonstrating the new Equipment that was recently pur
chased from Life Fitness that was funded by the Student Activities Fee. The presenta
tion will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. The hours for "Late Nite at the CUB" will

Once again PSH will compete in the Association of College Unions International
Region 4 Recreation Tournament that will be hosted by the University of Maryland at
Eastern Shore on Feb. 7 and 8. Plans call for local tournaments to be held in bowling,
billiards and table tennis, and the winners of these tournaments will represent PSH in
February. Please call Bud Smitley at x 6267 for further information.
The Creative Craft Series kicks off on Nov. 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Community
Center of the student housing complex on the Harrisburg campus. Students get the
chance to create their own unique, one-of-a-kind mug. To register,please contact the
Student Activities Office (948-6273) or the Community Center (948-6270). Space is
limited, so hurry!!
You are invited to join "Volleyball Wednesdays" from Bto 11 p.m. each week in the
CUB gym. The Harrisburg campus Volleyball Club will have three courts open. You
can form your own team or show up on your own to join the fun (if coming solo, the
club suggests you arrive around 8 p.m. for easier team accommodations). The club is
also interested in playing a faculty team in a tournament at the end of the semester.
Students are asked to encourage faculty to form a team.

Professor of Sociology Ken Kyle discussing "Is Critical Theory Applicable to Social
Change? Developing Tools of Participatory Policy Development and Evaluation."
The Capital College Teaching and Learning Consortium Faculty Team presents a
noontime workshop titled, "Brainstorming Session: What is Good Teaching and How
Is It Best Evaluated," on Tuesday, Nov. 19 from 12:20 to 1:45 pm. in the Gallery
Lounge. Faculty are invited to join us in an open discussion about this important sub
ject, led by Dr. Denise Meister from the School of Behavioral Sciences and Education.

The Penn State Downtown Center and the Harrisburg Downtown Improvement
District are partnering to present an evening with acclaimed actor James Earl Jones at 7

A Native American “Living Treasure” is coming to Harrisburg and
the campuses of Capital College the week of November 18. Sidney
H. Byrd, a member of the Lakota Sioux tribe and a retired
Presbyterian minister, will lead public discussions at Penn State’s
International House on Chestnut Street in Harrisburg at noon
November 19, at Penn State Harrisburg at 5 p.m. November 20.
