lIYP Continue/ Initiative to Retain YOIM9 Worker/
Pennsylvania’s best and brightest young adults are living, working,
playing and staying in the Commonwealth, thanks to the efforts of eco
nomic development and community focused organizations in charge of
hosting this year’s ImPAct 2 conference. The Harrisburg Hilton will
be the site for this second annual statewide Young Professionals
Conference, slated Friday October 4 through Sunday October 6. This
conference will draw an estimated 300 participants under the age of 40
to the Capital City. Registration is available for only $5O per person
($25 for students) by calling The Box at 717-214-ARTS.
The Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP) has joined with the
Harrisburg Downtown Improvement District Authority (DID) and the
TeamPA Foundation to host this event. This effort is in support
Pennsylvania’s broad-based Stay Invent the Future initiative, created
by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic
Development (DCED).
“Harrisburg is a great example of what’s working to attract and retain
Pennsylvania’s young professionals,” said Brad Jones, president of
HYP. “The dreaded ‘brain drain’ has shown a reversal in our area. We
previously lost our younger workforce to larger cities, blit not today.
We are experiencing a rampaging renaissance here in Pennsylvania’s
capital city and we want to share our secrets to success with others!”
