The announcement came after we had already published our dates to national advertisers as well as after half the pro jected issues had been produced. Needless to say, this is at best damaging to the reputation of Penn State Harrisburg on a professional level. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Janet Widoff, monies were found to continue publishing through this issue. Allowing us to bring the entire student body, as well as our advertisers, the quality service they deserve from the only fully student-representative publi cation on the Capital Campus of Penn State. I hope that this serves as a warning to future SGA administrations (the presi dent of SGA serves as the co-chair of the Student Activity Fund Committee) The Capital Times is the student voice and showcase for student talent at PSH and serves as a visual selling point to the community that hires our graduates, as well as being a showpiece to prospective students. Don't let this paper fall prey to polit ical maneuvering and personal agendas. What we produce and how we represent ourselves to national advertisers is a direct reflection on the quality of output from this university. Never forget that the press is a huge part of what keeps big business and politi cians honest and accountable, thereby preventing special interests, big money, and unscrupulous individuals from steam-rolling the common people. Before we "sign off," we want to congratulate our staff, advisors and support ers for another successful year and wish Stacy DeAngelo and the other members of the "rat pack" every success in taking over the reins of this publication. Both senior editors . . . ah, that would be us . . . are retiring from the volunteer news paper business (loans to pay back and all that minor nonsense). Cathie started writing for the paper in 1999 - enough is enough already. p.s Hambone really.
