Are you afraid of
Here are a couple of suggestions that will help:
l. Park in the Walnut Street parking garage. Don’t forget to get
your parking ticket stamped by one of the vendors in Strawberry
Square for two hours of free parking. You don’t have to purchase
anything to get it stamped.
2. Sorry if this discourages anyone from trying, but the best hours
to do this are Mon.-Fri., 9-5 p.m. This is a city that rolls up the car
pet pretty much after 5 p.m.
3. It’s more fun to do this with friends, but we only have one top
prize if you drag them all along.
That said, here is your mission. Follow the directions and care
fully answer the questions. The first to return the correct answers,
by e-mail to captimes@psu.edu, will take the loot:
Take the elevator in the
Walnut Street garage to
the ground (street) level.
When you get off, you’re
in front of Open Stage
Theater. Look through the doors,
what is the animal you see in the
tour similar pictures on their
walls?
2 Go outside and make a
right onto Walnut St.,
then left to Second
Street. Turn left at
Dewey’s Dry Dock and walk
down the sidewalk past
“DTNews.” Stop and look left up
to the parking garage you were
just in. What are the colors of the
different floors that you see, nam
ing them from bottom-up?

START HERE:
Keep walking down Sec
3ond Street to the square
and cross Market St. Go
leSt down Market and
keep walking until you
come to the building on your
right ■with a targe “333” on the
outside. Take the escalator to the
Education Building. Go in and
take the elevators to the 19th
floor. Look out the window onto
the expansive view: look straight
down: see a parking area there?
1) The parking area has a large
rectangular area inside of the
whole lot for cars. How many
spaces are in this middle section?
2) Now, what building do you see
below you that you can go for a
swim at?

the Big Bad 9 Burg?
How well do you know Harrisburg, that wannabe
"metropolis” along the golden shores of the
Susquehanna?
Here's a suggestion, take this course and follow it
carefully. You will no longer be afraid to venture
into places you probably wouldn't go unless you
were forced there by some lousy occupation (like,
oh say, lawmaker).
But you won’t be trudging off to work. You, my friend,
will be noticing details these poor work slaves do not
ordinarily look for. No one does, unless they are on a
quest to get their picture in the Cap Times.
And as if that's not enough, we'll throw in a $5O
Strawberry Square gift certificate for the winner.
4 Leave this building, go
down the outside escala
tor and come out onto
Market Street again.
Cross Market, go right to
the building on the corner of
Fourth and Market, which is the
Rachel Carson Government Build
ing. Go inride and take the eleva
tor to the eighth-floor snack bar.
What is the price of their 3 eggs,
2 bacon, toast and homef ries spe
cial? Take a seat by the west win
dow. Look directly across to the
office building beside you. If their
blinds are open, there is a little
statuette on their windowsill.
What color is it’s hair? If their
blinds are closed, look down onto
the roof, there are three crescent
shaped edifices; how many win
dows are below any one of them?
5 Leave the building, go
right onto Fourth to
Walnut Street. Cross
over Walnut to the Fo
rum, which is to your right. Cross
Aberdeen Street, the Forum is
now directly before you. Look at
the top of the building- what ani
mal is on top of the border frieze
of the Forum?
The Capital Times
Enter the Forum at the
6 corner door where the
half-circle front of the
building meets the long
rectangular west wing.
Inside the door is a sign for the
State Library. Go up the stairs
and to your left to the State li
brary. Go inside and walk up to
the fourth floor. Go to the center,
back along the railing, stand and
look out onto the front of the li
brary. Look at the columns on
your right. 1) Count to the sth
pillar with wooden earrings on
them starting from the front to
ward you; what is carved in wood
on that pillar? 2) Go to shelf No.
901.4 —what is the topic of these
books? 3) Go back down to the
first floor. What kind of books are
in alcove No. 4 on this floor?
7 Leave the library and go
straight down the hall.
Turn left into the lobby
by the doors to the back
of the forum. Look up at
the ceiling. The ceiling is a group
of gold circles of symbols in a grid
scale of s*across, 6-down. What
are the two symbols represented
in grid 3-across, 6-down from
both ends?
Leave the forum out
the doors to your left.
Turn around and look up
at the back doors. There are 6
pillars. Whose name is above the
two middle pillars?
