However, despite the band's schedule, Bell com- mits time and a concentrated effort to his course work so that he can "absorb" the material and achieve the maximum benefit from his academic experience, he says. "On the way to a club, Carl will be sitting in the car with a flashlight in his mouth, reading a book," Abbott says. He says that Bell also studies and reads assign- ments between sets. Jacobs Editor The student govern ment association (SGA) i s planning a "lock up" fund raiser for Nov. 20. The SGA is seeking faculty and staff volunteers who are willing to be locked up "for fun" in the Olmsted Building lobby, according to SGA Vice President, Liane Bankos. Those who allow themselves to be "arrested" should be sponsored by an individual or group. Students can even arrange to have faculty and staff "locked up," Bankos said. Once jailed, the individual will receive one phone call to raise money in order to "bail" themselves out, she added. It is a difficult schedule, but he says that it suits him. The band now awaits the release of their compact disc "Porcelain" in mid- November. Bell anticipates that the time he must dedicate to Fuel will increase and that the band's schedule will become more hectic then. Although his educa tion is important to him, Bell says that he might not be able to attend classes next semester so that he can direct his attention to the opportunities that the band will have after the CD is re leased. Provost and Dean, John H. Bruhn; Associate Provost for Administration, James South; and Director of Student Affairs, Donald Holtzman have volunteered to give up their freedom for this fundraising event, Bankos said. "Actually, it's not the fundraising that I'm focusing on," the vice president said, "it's getting students more involved in fun campus activ ities that's important to me."
