16/PSH NEWS Cradle, from page 14 becomes the Bartels' nanny. Unlike many run-of-the-mill thrillers, the revenge being sought is not murder, but alienation. Peyton is insane. She's taken a trip into the twilight zone, and has decided that Claire took her family; consequently, she will take Claire's family and live happily ever after. The film is suspcnseful. Peyton comes across as sweet and charming, but in the meantime she is busy trying to destroy Claire and make her doubt her husband. For instance, Peyton plants the idea in Claire's mind that Michael is having an affair. She does this by stealing a cigarette lighter from Claire's friend and putting it in Michael's pocket. The acting is superior, and makes the hour and 55-minute film flow. Rebecca Stone, from page 11 (i.e., Edition 2 for $2O is replaced with Edition 3 for $6O, and the only structural change is the editor's "Things Different In This Edition" page). This conspiracy also prohibits you from selling most of your books at semester's end. Last semester, I spent $l5O on books. In December, they took three of the 10 books back, and I left for Christmas break with $l5 and seven books I did not want to keep. Yes, I am a complainer. I have a right to be-and so do you. You pay tuition to come here, and perhaps you pay room and board to stay and eat at this intellectual, suburban oasis. But think this over: Joab Thomas makes $200,004 a year (yes, and FOUR dollars). He lives rent United Parcel Seruice Promotes Robert Diehl Robert Diehl, a part-time loader/unloader for United Parcel Service, has been promoted to part-time supervisor. Robert has been a UPS employee for almost 1 1/2 years. During that time, he has served as a loader in the Harrisburg facility. His new responsibilities will include being a part-time supervisor in the Harrisburg facility. Robert is a structural engineering major at Penn State Harrisburg. He came to UPS for the money to pay for his schooling. He also likes the part-time hours and benefits package. Best of luck to Robert DcMornay is quite convincing as the nanny who tries to take over Claire's life. Her character is strong, conniving, and in some ways so ordinary that it's scary. Peyton is so crazy, she even breastfeeds Claire's newborn son, Joey. Claire is sweet and unassuming. She is also vulnerable because she has asthma. Sciorra genuinely convinces the audience, especially when she has an asthma attack right after Peyton emptied all of her inhalers. Because of the director's excellent use of juxtaposition, the audience empathizes with Claire, when she realizes Peyton is the dead doctor's wife. Claire becomes suspicious and visits the doctor's house, which is for sale. Upon entering what was supposed to be the nursery for Peyton's unborn child, the images of turtle wallpaper, wind free, has a car provided for him, and gets all his meals free of charge. Geez, that clothing bill must be a bitch. Joe-pa, although I love him too, makes an OBSCENE amount of money. When you see how much cash is invested in our football program, it is a crying shame that Penn State balks at our request for a new library. But if you think that Penn State football is the greatest thing since sliced bread, think this over-with the tuition we pay, can you believe Penn State charges us $5O to see SIX of our OWN games? The motto is "We Are Penn State." We pay the SAME tuition as our State College comrades. But, unless you're at "the Holy Land," or you can make some cash for the economical institution known as "The Pennsylvania State University," you're just another social security number lost in Beaver Stadium football traffic. chimes and a breast pump are juxtaposed. Peyton had just put up the same wallpaper and chimes in Joey's room, and had used the breast pump to maintain her milk production after the miscarriage. Another key character in the film is Solomon, a mentally impaired handyman. Ernie Hudson gives a fine performance as the kind handyman who senses the evil in Peyton. Although his character seems to have a Lemmys, from page 14 Excellent moviemaking in the action following the man who doubted the Warren Commission, and dared to be different. 2) "Dead Again"-Irish actor/director Kenneth Branagh brings a sense of Hitchcock back to the screen in one of the most pleasant surprises of the year. 3) "Silence of the Lambs"-what can I say that hasn't already been said? Great performances and direction all around! 4) ’’City Slickers''-Billy Crystal as a RIGHT THERE-Patrick Kiblisky illustrates his point on a map of South America during his hour-long presentation on the geography and culture of Chile. An audience of fascinated students and facultygathere in the Gallery Lounge to listen to Kiblisky on Feb. 24. Kiblisky's talk was part of Penn State Harrisburg's Lunch with an International Flavor program, which focuses on a different country each month. Lawrence, from page 15 "We tell her to keep it down in there, because we don't want to hear it," Shank said, laughing. Although Lawrence's musical tastes don’t include much heavy metal, her powerlifting does. She picked up the hobby to relieve stress and help her gain weight. "It’s fun," Lawrence said. "But, it's turning my legs into little blocks of granite." Born and raised in York, Lawrence maintains close ties with her family. "My father is my best friend in the whole world," she said. "I've never met a more warm, wonderful man." The youngest of four girls and one low 1.Q., Solomon is, perhaps, the smartest of all. Peyton maliciously and wrongly accuses him of molesting Claire's daughter, to get him out of the way. But in the end, Solomon gets justice. (I won't tell you how-it'll spoil the ending. But there is dramatic irony.) If you haven't seen this entertaining, gripping film, there's still time. If you decide not to, use caution if you ever hire a nanny. cowboy...the year's most delightful "dramedy." Written by the men who brought you "Parenthood.” 5) "Boyz N the Hood"-by far the most powerful film of the year. It deals with life in south central Los Angeles. Excellent job by 23-year-old first-timer John Singleton. Singleton's latest work: Michael Jackson's "Remember the Time" video. A step down? You tell me. Well folks, there you have it--the winners of the first Lemmy Awards. I hope this will shed some light on your movie viewing. Don't forget to watch the Academy Awards on March 30. boy, Lawrence said her sisters are her biggest role models. "They are absolutely incredible," she said. "They’re dynamic." Lawrence is still a York resident, sharing a home with her fiance, Jody. The couple were engaged Feb. 22 and plan a spring 1994 wedding. The other member of Lawrence's household is an eight-month-old bulldog puppy, Londonderry Sir Ruff N' Tuff. The couple saved for three years to buy the puppy, whose most recent stunt was shredding an expensive down jacket, Lawrence said ruefully. Shank said she was surprised to hear Lawrence had a bulldog. "I can't imagine her with a bulldog," Shank said. "She's so little and petite-the image just doesn't fit."
