The association will sponsor four separate contests this year, doubling its efforts to discover new talent. For the current contest, poets can send up to 6 poems, each no more than 20 lines, name and address on each page, to American Poetry Association, Dept. CO-30, 250-A Potrero St., P.O. Box 1803, Santa Cruz, CA 95061. Poems must be postmarked by March 31 to meet the deadline. Each poem will also be considered for publication in the American Poetry Anthology, a hardcover collection of contemporary verse. THEME ANNOUNCED FOR GOVERNOR'S LIBRARY CONFERENCE: "Pennsylvania: America's Libraries Start Here" is the theme of the 1990 Governor's Conference on Library and Information Services, announced First Lady Ellen Casey. The conference will be held September 13-15 at the Harrisburg Marriott Hotel. Participants will prepare objectives for presentation at the second White House Conference on Library and Information Services in 1991. "We encourage attendance by the general public, library users, elected officals, and library professionals, representing all types of libraries, to guarantee that the future growth of libraries reflects the needs and desires of our communities," said Mrs. Casey. STUDY ABROAD WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ORLEANS: The University of New Orleans is sponsoring its 15th annual INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL in Innsbruck, Austria during the summer of 1990.
