Editors note: With Valentines Day
upon us Yank's pen went off the handle
trying to figure girls out.
I'm sorry I just don't understand
females nor do I think I ever will.
It's been said that it's a woman's right
to change her mind; and beleive me, they
seem to take full advantage of this.
Everytime I think I've figured a girl out
she'll turn around and do the exact
opposite of what I figured she would do.
Why is this I ask you?
Still the biggest problem I have with
females is trying to figure out their
dating procedures. Each and every female
seems to have her own set rules on
dating. Because I am trying to understand
some of these different dating
philosophies, I have conducted some
research and found out what one

particular girl likes in guys.
First, I should dress in docksidcrs,
Levi's (no Lee's here) and sweaters with
Polo shirts. OK, that's easy enough; all
I have to do is wear nice clothes. Then
she told me that she doesn't like her face
licked, and not to call her babe, and
always keep the popcorn near her. So in
other words, I should let her take care of
her own personal hygiene, show respect
to her and keep her fed. Just like a pet,
isn't it?
She likes intellectual conversation,
but don't mimmick her! That's bad.
Mimmicking her and bugging her when
she is tired would get me into hot water.
Also, don't fall asleep too early. I should
go home if I'm tired. OK, so far all I
have to be is a well dressed, wide awake,
feeding machine. Piece of cake isn't it?
When I'm taking her skiing in my
nice car (required) I better not play
country music. She doesn't like that. I
can also take her hiking or swimming or
just go and watch the sunset. This is real

same time
easy; now things are becoming fun.
She likes gold and flowers. Still,
even if I get these gifts for her, I can't
run my hands through her hair when it's
just been sprayed. This too, will get me
into trouble. I should remeber not to be
cheap and to keep my hair short and dark
if possible. All right, just buy her
frivilous gifts and keep my hands to
myself. Now this is getting ridiculous!
So, with these few simple rules and
some common sense I can have a happy
relationship with this girl. That's all
right with me, but all girls are different
aren't they? What happens if I meet a
girl who likes a guy in sweats and
sneakers? Or what happens if I meet a
girl who likes it when guys get their
fingers stuck in her hair? Does this mean
I have to learn all new rules? Why can't
there be a common set of rules? This
isn't fair!
If all else fails, I can still try asking
"Hey baby, what's your sign?" and take
it from there. Wish me luck!

One night a few friends of mine got
together and were discussing what a man
seems to look (or doesn't look for) for in
a woman
Unfortuantely we all came to the
same conclusion that today there is a
complexity to dating. Women look for
that special man to make them happy
and men just look for a women that...
Well, first men look for women that
are very attractive. These women must
fit into the correct weight category and
all around nice body measurements. That
is until the next attractive woman walks
by.
Also, men want to take a girl home
that mom will approve of and dad will
flirt with. His friends must also be
attracted to this girl so he, will feel good
about himself. But this woman should
not be more attractive than the man
because his ego will be really hurt (And
we can't have that, can we?)
Men generally do not want a women
smarter than them because it takes
energy to impress smart women. The
fact is, it isn't the women's brains men
are interested in anyway.
Around the holidays men get very
cheap and break up with their respected
female partner so they don't have to
spend their money on cards, flowers or
other thoughtful gifts.
The last thing a man really wants is a
woman that has been brought up with a
sense of commitment, trust and honesty.
Because once a man has a woman's trust,
girl, he can do whatever he wants to.
