Elections Oddo and Barrett win Presidential By Jerry Trently Slightly over 20% of campus students voted in Student Government elections last Mon day and Tuesday. Public Policy major, Joe Oddo, and Business major, Chris Barrett won the two top positions. Oddo beat out opponents Tom Dekle and Glenn Buchfeller by capturing 202 of the 443 votes cast for the presidency. Dekle “It certainly is encourag ing to see more students going out to vote.” Tom Halley Outgoing SGA President and Buchfeller had 132 and 119 votes, respectively. Oddo said after the election results were released that he was anxious to “get senators motivated and working.” Barrett defeated opponent Rob Rejmaniak, a Humanities major, by nearly a two to one margin tallying 296 votes to Rejmaniak’s 147. Barrett said that he sees one of the top priorities for the new ad ministration to be the formation of a student sounding board to listen to student input about up coming issues like the semester change and grading change. Barrett said contact to each of the departments will be made througn each department’s senators to obtain comment from all facets of the campus. Both Oddo and Barrett were officers in the International Af fairs Association. Business Administration ma jor, Mary Ford, won the race for Student Government Treasurer, defeating Humanities’ candidate Florence Churchill by an 80 vote margin. Sue Rogers won the Secretary post by tallying 14 write-in votes Barrett said that Rogers has ac cepted the position, and that se cond place finisher, Mike Sipple has declined an offer to serve as an additional SGA Secretary. Four of five students winning Senator-at-Large posts were: Gary Chamberlin, Brian Gauger, David Poole, and Panos Xanerios. Keith Shollenberger was the fifth candidate. Other senators winning spots in the Student Government are: Harry Lucas, Humanities; Ab- t bey Hussar, Business; and Brian Burdette, Science Engineering and Technology. All department senators ran uncontested.
