Page 2 The Last The C.C. Reader dedicated this year to the promotion of campus community involvement, school spirit, and overall positive mental attitude. Because the results of this year's efforts will be seen by future students, it is unfair to label this year's student activities as "effective" or "ineffective." Through the course of the year, the C.C. Reader's Student Service Series has featured most of the services available to students from the Division of Student Affairs. These services include Athletics, Counseling, Health Services, Interna tional Students, Placement, Residence Living, Safety Services, Student Activities, and Police Services. Other campus departments that were featured include the Bookstore, Campus Relations, and Financial Aid. Also, the expansion of the Calendar of Events has hopefully helped to make students aware of worthwhile activities in the surrounding community. SGA and Student Organizations were active Although some students will say that there wasn't anything to do this year, the leaders of the Student Government Association and most other student organizations will disagree. Some of the more notable activities were the orientation picnic, the bus trip to U.P. for All-U Day, the Fall Road Rallaye, the World Series Spectator Spectacular, lAA's International Dinner, MHBOG's Communal Thanksgiving Dinner, The Novemberfest, Hillel's Wine and Cheese Party, Thursday Night Movies, Monday Night Football, The Superbowl Spectator's Spectacular, Ski Club's Vermont Trip, Country Rock Night, XGl's Sadie Hawkin s Dance, XGl's Philly Trip, BSU's Fashion Show, RSC's Spring Olympics, and RSC's Semiformal. The most positive signs of cooperation by student organizations were demonstrated at the Alumni Association's Phonathon, The Health Fair, and MHBOG's Rites of Spring. The students that participated in these activities had a good time. Lots of memories. lots of friends. Excitement. The students that did not participate in these activities missed the boat. There is always next year. It is interesting that the Student Government Association did not receive many student complaints this year. Was everybody happy? It is also interesting that the Administration did not receive nearly as much student criticism this year as it did last year. Was everybody happy? Students could be happy. They know that Capitol Campus will not change its name, campus police won't carry guns, and students have a Dean's List. Still, was everybody happy? No. Students have to be discontent. If nothing else, students always complain about dorm food. Guess again. JoAnn Nesgoda has been very understanding and helpful in providing good food to students. Volume 14, No. 6 June 8..1981 c.c. reader Published biweekly by the students of The Capitol Campus of The Pennsylvania State University in Middletown, Pennsylvania. The C.C. Reader has the following four-fold purpose: [l] to keep students informed about their campus community; [2] to provide editorial comment on issues facing the campus community; [3] to serve as a forum for student poetry, photographs, graphics, and other creative endeavors; [4] to serve as a learning mechanism for all students interested in the journalistic process. This includes reporting, editing, layout, typesetting, and paste-up. Activities Editor Keith N. Gantz Photography Editor -- Mark W. Caruso William J. Neil Sports Editors Darrell Reider Kevin Spiegel Circulation 2500 Monday, June 8, 1981 Editorial There has been some concern that the Student Center should have a snack bar. Hopefully, a plan will be implemented this fall. There was concern that Vendorville had an ugly appearance. Well, thanks to Mex Bleau, Rosanne Rosenberger, and the rest of the Vendorville Subcommittee, Vendorville will be totally renovated by fall term. Charles Townley has been busy improving the Heindel Library. Roger Williams has improved the faculty newspaper and the Capitol Campus Bulletin. The Public Affairs Division will be able to offer a Ph.D. in Political Science in conjunction with the Department of Political Science at University Park. Are students happy? The C.C. Reader recognizes the fine job that Pat Murphy and the Resident Assistants have done by distributing copies of C.C. Reader to resident students. Special thanks to Frank Orlevitch, Night Custodial Technician, for providing guidance and understanding in W-129 on Wednesday nights. Also, thanks to Ben Graybill and the Middletown Press & Journal staff for consistently doing a qyality print job in a minimum amount of time. Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated.
