C.C. Reader ASME celebrates 100 years Tuesday, April 22, 1980, was a day to be remembered by mechanical en gineers and soon-to-be mechanical engineers everywhere. This date marked the celebration of 100 years (1880-1980) of service to our society by ASME. The event was marked locally by a centennial celebration at the Hershey Motor Lodge. Members of the Mechanical Engineering Department, ASME students, and guests, all from Capitol Campus, were joined by other members of ASME in the Susquehanna area. This is just one more example of Penn State bureaucracy at work. One other problem that deserves mention is the deplorable condition of some residence hall facilities, particu larly those on Third Floor Church. When that floor was opened for winter term it was furnished with a' meager amount of lounge furniture in poor condition and had only one water fountain to serve the entire floor. The furniture is now in even worse condi tion and there still is only one , water foUntain. Repeated queries to Housing and Food Service have yielded, the answer that another fountain has been on order since November and new furniture will arrive •in July. A lot of good that does this year's resident& It should be obvious to anyone with any kind of business sense that these kinds of delays in shipment should not be tolerated. The simple solution is to contact different suppliers who can provide the necessary goods in a reasonable period of time. Let's see what our new group of SGA officers can do about this prob lem. I say it is time to put the "SERVE" back in Housing and Food Service.
