Page 4 The way things stand Well, the time has come again. You know, I really enjoy sitting down and having this little "chat" with you. It's good in a way, because it keeps you informed of what's happening around the school. Speaking of which Mixes Night lost us we STILL haven't found the mixer yet. I'm beginning to wonder if we ever will! It kind of bothers me that we haven't. Surely someone at that concert saw something. You know, if we can't fork over that mixer, we're going to have to pay for it somehow. That's $3,000.00 bucks that's got to come out of somewhere. S.G.A.certainly doesn't have it in their fund, so it may come to pass that the various or ganizations that we've given the yearly allotments to are going to have to help out with the payment, willingly or not. I've looked at the contract that the S.G.A. signed with the sound company in order for them to come here and furnish the sound equipment. It doesn't have a clause in which we accept responsibil ity of the stuff; however, I'm not a lawyer and this isn't a court of law. Even if we don't have a legal obligation to pay, I feel that we should. If we want more concerts here at school, we're going to have to "save face." The word is out people. The music industry knew the very next morning that the mixer was stolen. How? Let me tell you, word travels fast in the business. Put yourself in a band's shoes for a moment. After hearing that a $3,000.00 mixer was stolen at Capitol Campus after a concert, would YOUwant to bring your equipment here and play? I think that you'd have second thoughts about it. Let me know how you feel. Leave a note in my mail box if you can't find me anywhere. Get with It juniors I guess this next para graph is addressed to the Juniors. I'm really disappointed in you. I'm sure that doesn't bother you a bit but I want to tell you why too. As I'm SURE you've heard OR read somewhere, the S.G.A. is going to hold elec tions for the Junior Senators in the upcoming weeks. As of last Thursday, NONE of you felt like it was worth your time to even apply!!! Just who do you think you are????? Are you suffering from the delu sion that everything is going to be handed to you around here'? I certainly hope not, cause it's not going to be, people! Without any repre sentation on the S.G.A., your opinion won't he heard. Doesn't that matter to you? You'll be the first ones to gripe next year when you're not included in the decision making process. Sure, I agree that the S.G.A. isn't "hell-fire and damnation" but it's get ting there. The administration and faculty at least know that we're there and that we're watching out for the student's interests. Just where do you get off not caring enough to carry on the practice? I only hope that the extension I've granted on the application deadline does some good. Some of the Senior Senators were dead set against me doing it. If none of you apply and subsequently run, I'll give you a preview of what's going to happen. Either the ENTIRE S.G.A. is going to resign, or they'll just concern themselves with matters per taining to the Seniors and cut their work in half. I, for one, do not want to see either one of those things happen. Come on people, get off your ass! Get involved! It's only as good as YOUmake itIMMIIM Now that that's off my chest WSU sihndion taken care of At one of our most recent meetings, a unique situation come to light. Seems as though someone wanted to get a constitution for a White Student Union ratified. Well, the S.G.A. was dead set against it and the club never got off the ground. I want to publically thank the members of the Black Student Union for keeping therir heads and having faith in the judgment of their Student Government. It meant a lot to us that you had confidence in our ability to handle the situation. Thank you. Walk la and walk out As far as school's concern ed, these advertisements that you've been seeing around the school for early registration, are legal. Naturally, they won't take effect until the proper time to register comes around, but what it DOES mean is that you won't have to stand in line this time either. Remember those lines? Any way, it's for real and you should take advantage of it. SCA asked Cress abed Fonda denial I've sent a letter to Dr. Gross about the denial to Fonda and Hayden to come to Capitol and speak. You'll find a copy of it in the issue somewhere. I think you'll also find his reply as well as some additional comments by yours truly. It's an interesting sit uation and I'd appreciate your comments. (ahem, Juniors--- now's your chance) Until nest time Well, I guess that's about all for this time. Oh, there's also another bit on the book store in here somewhere(the READER). You might want to check it out. As far as I know, the READER is going to publish the entire story about the b.s. Lyda's a pretty good person and always will ing to help. Who's Lyda?she's the editor. Like I said, I guess that's all for this time. I've enjoyed it as usual. Sorry if I jumped to hard on your case Juniors, BUT you do deserve it for your apathy. For your information, the S.G.A. holds its weekly meet ings on Mondays, at 3:30 p.m. in room W-138.
