at Capitol
D&nceteller, an
eight-member modern dance
company, has begun a shared
one-year residency at Capitol
Campus and Shippensburg
State College. The four-year
old troupe is under the di
rection of its Trina Collins.
Danceteller has been as
sociated until recently with
Wilson College in
Chambersburg. At Capitol
Campus, the intention is to
offer .a complete range of
master classes, workshops in
choregraphy, Interludes, and
major concerts. There are
also to be lecture-demonstra
tions in the community.
Dr. Robert Graham, Pro
gram Head of the Humanities
Department. "We want
Danceteller to be visible in
the area and are scheduling
performances at retirement
homes, public schools and in
dustry. This is a genuine
contribution by the university
and the campus to the cultural
life of Central Pennsylvania.”

Financial support for the
artistic venture comes from
several sources. The largest
share of the cost, $4,500, is in
the form of a joint grant from
the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania Council on the
Arts and the National En
dowment for the Arts in
Washington D.C. This grant
was assigned to this purpose
by Floyd Fischer, Vice Pre
sident-Continuing Education
at Pennsylvania State
University.
In addition, the Student
Government Association has
contributed $5OO, the Cultural
Affairs Committee $lOOO, and
the Humanities Department
$1,500.
Danceteller’s first activity
was an Interlude presented
Sept. 18. While the audience
was sparse, it was enthusias
tic. Devotees of the dance
may look forward to the
troupe’s next presentation on
November 8 at 8:00 p.m. in
the auditorium.
