A preliminary round was necessary to determine the second-place finisher in the National League. On' the basis of their identical loss records, Taint, Dukes and Elwood’s Boys took part in this playoff. Elwood’s Boys defeated Taint but then lost to the Dukes in the battle for second place. The Dukes will now face the first place Redneck moth ers of the American League in a best-of-three semi-final series First place Tony's Team of the National League is facing second place Sultans of Swing of the American League in the other semi-final series. In the first game of this series, the Sultans lost a heart-breaker in the bottom of the seventh inning when Tony’s team rallied for six runs to take a come-from behind 8-7 victory. The winners of the two semi-final series will face each other in a three game championship series which will conclude next Monday, weather permitting.
