PAGE 6 Rec/Ath Information BASEBALL MEETING The Baseball club will have a meeting on Wednesday, Feb.l9 at 2:00 p.m., in the recreation/athletics bldg. Informatin will be announced at that time regarding games, equipment, practice schedule, etc. Anyone interested in playing baseball this season should attend, Presently 17 games have been scheduled. This year's team is being coached by Tom McMillen, with Dr. Hugh Spall once again serving as the Faculty Advisor. FENCING Max Garrett, Penn State head fending coach, along with 4 members of the PSU fencing team, will put on a fencing demonstration, Monday, Feb. 24, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Following the demonstration they will meet with the ;apitol Campus fencing club in the Rec/Ath bldg. from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend both activities. TABLE TENNIS EXHIBITION In order to show off Ellis Alley's unique style of table tennis, a demonstration has been arranged for Thursday, Feb. 27, at 6:15 p.m. in the Student Center. At this time Ellis will match skills with Mr. Robert Van Zandt and his son, Tom, from Carlisle. Mr. Van Zandt is a table tennis instructor in Carlisle and both he and his son have participated in many national tournaments, in their separate divisions. GIRLS BASKETBALL Through much effort of Tom Groves, a Girls basketball team has been organized at Capitol Campus. On Feb.l9, the local girls will travel to Schuylkill Campus to compete against their team. Good Luck Girls!!! VARSITY BASKETBALL The Capitol Campus "Five" moved its seasonal record to 5 wins and 8 losses, as a result of last week's action. They downed Lancaster Bible 83 to 62, and then were bombed by Spring Garden 139 to 73. In the Lancaster Bible game Jim Baker had 35; Bob Garman 20; Steve DeFrank 10; Jim Shoenberger 10; and Gary Tobin 8. Against Spring Garden, Baker had 26 points; DeFrank 20; Jim Swope 10; Tobin 10; and Shoenberger 7. Due to business commit ments, Al Williams was unable to continue as head basketball coach and has been replaced by Phil Morgan. Kirby Jenkins had 12 pts. for the Leftovers. The Brotherhood won its second game of the week, 51-40, over Lois. Tom Groves scored 20 pts. for the Brotherhood, while Armand Magnelli hit 14 pts. for Lois. The Foul Balls beat the French Ticklers 65-35, behind Bob Garman's 22 pts. Rudz scored 10 pts for the losers Dog Puke slithered by the RA's 31-29, G. Wiegle had 11 pts. for D.P. and Jim Swope was high scorer for the RA's with 19 pts. The Flames burnt the Public's Pride 57-45, behind Joe Grant's 23 pts. Mason also had 23 pts for PP. The Spread Eagle Inn narrowly escaped with victory over the Court Jesters, 34-33, Jim Schoenberger scored 9 pts. for the SEI and McGee had 10 pts. for the C. Jesters. The Bender Bros. beat the French Tcklers, 45-27, be hind Smith's 14 pts. Merc scored 8 pts. for the FT's. In the final game of the week, the Foul Balls scored 84 pts. to the Mean Machine's 30 pts. to remain undefeated. Mike McAllister scored 18 pts. for the Foul Balls, while Dave Deroba's 8 pts. led the Mean Machine's scoring. The top eight teams will enter the playoffs at the end of the season and there is a lot more action yet to come. Upcoming action will include a showdown between the Brotherhood and the Foul Balls.
