A paper co-authored by SABIR DAHIR, W. E. Meyer, and R.R. Hegmon entitled "Laboratory and Field
Investigation of Bituminous Pavement and Aggregate Polishing" has been accepted for publication and
presentation at the Annual Meeting of the National Research Council, Transportation Research Board, to
be held in Washington, D.C., January 13-17, 1975.
STUART GOLDMAN discussed "Women in Education in Japan" for Colonial Park Chapter, American
Business Women's Association, Thursday, November 21 at the Capitol Motel.
Librarians EMERSON JACOB, JUDITH CHERRY, CAROLYN FRANCE, CAROLYN MILLER,
FRANCIS MOLS, FLORENCE SALINGER, and SHARON SERZAN attended the Fall Meeting of the
Area College Library Cooperative Program (ACLCP) November 15, 1974 at HACC. Featured was a
discussion of an on-line computer cataloging service available from the Ohio College Library Center
(OCLC) to PALINET (Pennsylvania Area Library Network) a consortium of academic and research
libraries in Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware.
LLOYD WOODRUFF was invited by the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, University
of Pittsburgh to participate as one of two outside members in the work of its Committee on Tenure and
Promotion during the past month.
On November 20, 1974, HERBERT S. EISENSTEIN was re-elected to the Board of the American Civil
Liberties Union, Harrisburg Chapter.
PROFESSOR JOHN E. GOTRIP attended the annual meeting of CoOperative Research for Academic
Planning (CRAP) on November 31, 1974 at Bird In The Hand, Pa. He presented a paper entitled "Self
Aggrandizement, Trivia, and Use of Media: A Transitional Formulation."
PROFESSOR BETTY JEANNE THORNE, Assistant Professor of Statistics, has been appointed an
Associate member of the faculty of the Graduate School, effective 25 November 1974.
SABIR DAHIR attended the Second Annual Combined Meeting of Mid-Atlantic and Section Two of the
Institute of Traffic Engineers held at the Sheraton-Harrisburg Motor Inn, November 21-22, 1974.
