SOCCER CLUB DROPS 2ND CONTEST Soccer Club
On April 17, the Soccer Club
came out on the short end of an
8-1 match against Millersville
State College, the game having
been played at Capitol's athletic
field.
The visitors struck like
lightening and scored three goals
in the first 10 minutes of the
opening 45 minute period. It
happened so fast that the small
crowd of approximately 30
onlookers was stunned. Capitol
then adjusted its defense and
mounted an offensive ending in
a goal which was scored by Dan
Fichtner. For the remainder of
the first half, the Lions staved
off the Millersville attack to the
delight of the fans and
exuberant coach Prof. Ed Trunk.
While s lurpping oranges
during intermission, the players
listened as Trunk and student
player-coaches Fichtner and
Harry Franzreb planned the

second half strategy. The team
maintained the same. defense in
that succeeding period until the
coaches decided to go to a
four-man line to add scoring
punch. It was successful for only
a ?short time as the defenders
became exhausted and the
shell-shocked goalies watched 5
balls squirt into the net in the
last 25 minutes of the contest.
Some of the highly notable
plays were some great blocks by
Fichtner, the running and
kicking of Ennio Trent, the
stolid play of Steve Konsowitz
and Mike Nonnemacher, Bob
Lawler and Barry Deacon. One
thing though. Dave "Diligent"
Link is still learning to plant
both feet when passing the ball
back into the field.
The Soccer Club will take its
0-2 record into a contest with
Lancaster Bible next week.
