Eimiimi Exclaim Prom Pruned By Charlie Holeczy Climbing to the third floor of the west wing, I sought out Dr. Stanley Miller to talk with him about the Education program. He explained that in the past week a meeting was convened with six deans from University Park, Dr. George Wolf, division head, and Dr. Miller. The purpose of the meeting was to form a bilateral coordinating committee between the education department here at Capitol and at University Park. Within itself, Capitol Campus has an excellent education program which is approved by the State of Pennsylvania for the training of teachers. The main problem Capitol faces is that all certification and program changes are handed down from University Park. The distance from the central controlling body and a lack of rapport with University Park has caused Capitol Campus to be slow in finding out any changes in University or State policies. Capitol's Education department wants to break away from University Park to be allowed to be evaluated by the State separately and to deal directly with educational agencies without any intermediary. One of the results of the recent . meeting was to create a committee to establish a "symbolic relationship," according to Miller. The two colleges, Capitol and University Park, do not want to compete with each other but establish a healthy atmosphere to benefit both the students and faculty in both Educational departments. One reachable plateau for the new committee to strive for is to establish an exchange program for faculty and students. University Park offers many educational classes different from courses here at Capitol. Ideally students at Capitol should be able to benefit from the courses offered at the Park, but are not able to do so at this The coordinating committee wants to establish an active exchange of both faculty to teach courses here and at the Park and students to experiment in taking courses at the Park. W. Bonaker Since last week's publication, I have had some second thoughts about my criticism for the coaching ability of last season's varsity basketball coach, Prof. William Aungst. I did not think he was a bad coach, but I did call him inadequate. But inadequate relative to the caliber of the present coach, Mr. Al Williams, who has played professional basketball and is obviously more experienced and qualified. I also made it appear that Aungst was my scapegoat for games which the team could have won, yet lost, last year. I do not purport to be a basketball expert, so I should not have placed the blame on Aungst. Where it truly does lie, I do not know. But I do admire Prof. Aungst for volunteering to head the basketball squad for the last two seasons. He devoted a lot of time to the team, and he turned out players who have the ability to make this year's team a winner. To be a coach, a man must command respect. I respect Bill Aungst. Photo Club The Photo Club meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the rear portion of the Placement Office. The club offers new and interesting visual learning experiences and skills. If you are interested, come to the meetings as conducted by President Jerry Reich. * * * PLAZA stores Varsity Basketball JANUARY 20 Spring Garden 23 Schuylkill Campus FEBRUARY Stevens Trade Spring Garden Lebanon Valley Messiah College Stevens Trade Delaware Campus NE Christian Shippensburg College Tea m Rosters No. 22 Rick Kopko No. 23 Rick Miller No. 33 Paul E.
