He mentioned that because all records, transcripts, billing and registration computations are channeled through University Park, students here have been placed at a disadvantage. He also stated his biggest concern was to get everyone - both students and faculty to follow the procedures of academic technicalities, notably pre-registration advisement. "I admit that we make mistakes, but most of our problems could be solved if students can watch what they are doing when filling out the necessary forms. Right now we have problems where some students have incorrect term listings on their cards." Slygh touched on other matters during his discussion with the SGA, talking about the College Level Entrance Program and ways to make the office a more effective service to the students. He appreciated any input which students can give. In other business, President Mike Dini announced the result of the faculty vote on the Army War College proposal. Earlier an amendment to the main proposal requiring that all elective courses be taught here was passed by a vote of 77-23. The main proposal has subsequently been approved by 73-27. A survey commission investigating how many students have had to pay a standard of Events parking fee at their other campuses was established. At its previous meeting, the SGA unanimously passed a motion in opposition to the current $7.50 fee, requiring a statement of justification for such a figure. The survey will be taken to discover why students may object to the fee. A process for student-to-student advising for the winter term was set up. Volunteers were asked to be present on January 3, 1973 to greet new students and assist them in adjusting to life at Capitol Campus. Senator Harold Brown discussed some of the topics touched upon at a recent meeting of the Council of Presidents of the Commonwealth Campuses. He mentioned that petitions calling for the lowering •of the state allowed drinking age be lowered to 18 are currently being circulated in area colleges and will be presented to the state legislature when such a bill comes up in January. While concluding its meeting, the Senate passed a unanimous resolution calling for places such as the business, financial, academic services, and instructional service offices to remain open between the hours of Noon and 1:00 p.m. for the convenience of students. The Senate reasoned this could be done if secretaries were to stagger their lunch breaks.
