The first official meeting of
the Student Government
Association of the fall term
occurred on Monday, September
25, in the Student Center. The
meeting, held in recognition of
National Student Government
Day, was a joint affair which
included members of the
Student Court, SGA
committees, and representatives
of campus organizations. New
juniors were also present.
The meeting was called to
order by President Mike Dini
who introduced the guest
speaker Mrs. Betty Duke,
Capitol's new Public
Information Officer. Mrs. Duke
notified the group of the duties
of her office and how she will be
able to help campus
organizations by publicizing
wide-interest activities. She
remarked that news releases are
delivered to all daily and weekly
newspapers in central
Pennsylvania, as well as other
areas of communication.
Senator Ron Edwards,
chairman of the Election/Screen
ing Committee, reported that an
election guide is being prepared
for use by candidates for the
student senate elections, which
will be held in three weeks. The
committee planned to meet to
organize the election, and to
prepare to screen applicants for
student committees.
Treasurer Tom Dixon related
that organizational budgets, as
defined by the Finance
Committee, will bepresented at
the next Senate meeting. Dixon
will bein his office during the
second period of every day if
organizations wish to contact
him to discuss their budgets for
the coming year. Aaron Spicher,
chairman of the Teacher/Course
Evaluation Committee,
announced that results from the
Spring Term '72 are currently
being printed. However, due to
monetary problems, only 60
copies of the comprehensive
report of the winter andspring
terms will bemade available.
The Constitutional Revision
Committee, chaired by SGA
Vice-President Max Brady,
planned to meet yesterday to
finalize the committee report.
The revisions must then be
published and approved by at
least 25 per cent of the student
body during the General
Election.
The James A. Jordan Jr.
Memorial Teaching award will be
presented to Prof. Ambrose
Main in the near future, pending
notification of those involved.
The award was to have been
presented during June
commencement, but it was
postponed because of the Flood.

Week in the SGA
This
Gaye - Miles, president of Delta
Tau Kappa, who coordinated the
st udent -t o -student advising
program, submitted a report on
the successes and failures of the
program. The report is available
for those interested, in the SGA
office. The possibility of
establishing a student counseling
program was discussed, in
conjunction with advising
program.
Rita Girondi presented a
report of Orientation activities.
She felt that the week was a
success but felt there was
inadequate student
participation. Student Court
Chief Justice Harry Franzreb
expounded upon the revision of
the student judiciary. The
changes art discussed in another
article appearing in this week's
issue of THE CAPITOLIST.
Sam Randazzo presented a
petition to the Senate which
stated the sentimental value of
theßoundtable which was held
by nearly 400 people in the
Capitol Community. The
Roundtable had been removed
from the main lobby a few
weeks ago. The Senate
unanimously passed a resolution
calling for the return of the
Roundtable.
A resolution calling for a
voluntary suspension of classes
on November 6 and 7, because
of the Presidential Election, was
passed by the Senate. The
measure was joinly sponsored by
the Human Awareness
Committee, the College
Republican Club and the Young
Democratic Organization. The
vote was 7 in favor, 2 opposed, 4
abstentions:
The Young Democrats were
reinstated as a campus
organization by an impromptu
meeting of the Charter Review
Committee, chaired by Sen.
Judith LePere. Dr. Robert
Bresler will be the group's
advisor.
The Election/Screening
Committee, upon approval of
the Senate, gave power to

temporary appointments of
students to serve on faculty
organization committees. This
was done because those
committees will be meeting soon
and need student
representatives. Robert Bonaker
and Marilyn Levin were student
designates on the Student
Affairs Committee while Don
Snyder and junior Karl Salmon
were appointed to the Academic
Standards Committee.
The SGA adjourned after a
lengthy meeting and planned to
meet next Monday at 6:30 p.m.,
room 216, Main Building.
Math-Science Exams
Capitol Campus has been
designated a testing center for
the society of Actuaries.
The most recent exams took
place last month when, for the
firsth time, candidates for the
initial preliminary examinations
gathered from both the
University and surrounding
colleges. The next exams will be
given in November.

Antrim Receives Appointment
Dr. John D. Antrim, professor
of engineering at Capitol
Campus, has been appointed
head of the Division of
Engineering and Technology at
the campus.
He succeeds Dr. J. Herbert
Moore, who resigned to become
director of the Division of
Engineering Technology at
Virginia Polytechnic Institute
and State University,
Blacksburg, Va., explains Dr.
Robert E. McDermott, provost
of the campus.
A member of the Capitol
faculty since 1969, Dr. Antrim
was graduated from Lehigh
University with a bachelor of
science degree in civil
engineering. He received his
master of science degree in civil
engineering and doctor of
philosophy degree in
Dressler Becomes Campus
Administrative Officer
George Dressler has been
appointed Administrative
Officer of Capitol Campus,
announces Dr. Robert E.
McDermott, Provost. Dressler
had served as Financial Officer
of the campus since January,
1968.
In this major post, Dressler
will coordinate the activities of
the Business Office, under the
direction of Robert Burleigh,
and the Finance Office, under
the supervision of John Taylor.
