In its first softball game of the
season, the Zappers of WZAP
won in a tight contest over the
Ghoulies. The hard hitting of
Harvey Brown, Mark Cohen and
Randy Hannigan and the tip-top
pitching of Charlie Carlin led the
Zappers to a 16 to 15 win.
Bob Francis hit two home
runs in his first two times at the
plate to lead the hitters for the
Groovy Ghoulies. Terry Wimmer
of the Big Boys made two stellar
catches in a losing cause against
the Missing Links. Little Studs, a
girl's team, was blasted by Runs,
by the score of 46 to 1. It
should be evident that the
Zappers won its game by using a
secret weapon, a single.
One of the big questions of
the season is will Rames meet
the Trojans in the finals?
Another is will the Softballs play
like foulballs or will the
Foulballs play like softballs?
AMF is another top-ranking
team which bears watching.
The Missing Links won its
first game of the season due to a
balanced hitting attack and the
six-hit pitching of Ted
(Hamburglar) Sites. The Missing
Links Pervaded against the Big
Boys by the score of 12-0.
Outstanding defense was also a
key factor in the game as Joe
Duda and Sites had four and five
putouts, respectively. Paul Hook
added the highlight to the game
by hitting a second-inning round
tripper.
AMF defeated De Bunkers,
15-14. Yet De Bunkers swatted
four home runs off winning
pitcher Ed Raible. AMF trailed 9
to 2 after three innings in the
game. With AMF behind by 14
to 8 going into the bottom of
the sixth, they took a 15 to 14
lead on homeruns by Stan
Laskowsky and George Sembrat.
The AMF defense held De
Bunkers scoreless in the seventh
to win the game.

Last Wednesday, the Capitol
Campus tennis team lost its third
match of the season to
Millersville State College by the
score of 9 to 0. Previously, the
team lost to Millersville and
Schuylkill Haven, but the
improvements were noted in
each match.
Despite some brilliant play by
John Phillips, Jackie Hilbert, Jim
O'Donnel, and Bob Lopez, the
more experienced Millersville
proved to be too much for
Capitol's team. The best match
and most encouraging play was
put in by John Mason, who was
finally beaten after three sets by
J. Wolf by the score of 5-7, 6-3,
4-6.
Mason (pictured above) had
previously been hampered by a
quick temper which caused him
to lose composure and rush his
shots, but on Wednesday, he was
the picture of coolness as he
